su Their ads are ummmm . . . neanderthal and their UI sucks. shrug. I don't support them because I don't like the way they look at the world. I may well pay more elsewhere, but GoDaddy just pisses me off. I'm willing to pay extra not to be pissed off.

su I use Google Sites. I have 1 site with them. My recollection is $10/year . . . $20? I understand Google paranoia, but I trust Big Brother Google. I also have a site with 1 and 1 - not so happy with them. As soon as I bought a web address, they put obnoxious ads up on site until I got mine up and running. Most of the answers involved, "buy software from us". Crap like that.

fnoo I've never heard anything but wild praise for GoDaddy. Dreamhost is also pretty good. Similar price and features, and really good customer service.

“I use GoDaddy as the registrar for all of my domain names, and I refer other people to them for cheap, simple, turnkey web hosting. However, in this one case, GoDaddy inadvertently charged me for a service, Website Tonight, for which I never enrolled. After logging into my account and cancelling it, I wrote to their customer support organization and demanded the credit card charge be reversed. They complied but never explained why or how the service was opened on my account.”
