What is “South Park”?
Debuting in 1997 on Comedy Central, South Park is one of the longest running animated shows on television. Set in a fictional mountain town in Colorado, the narrative revolves around four grade school boys and the everyday problems they face: dealing with love, rivals, death, problems at home, zombie outbreaks, giant mechanical Barbara Streisand monsters, Satan's unhealthy love life with former Iraqi dictators, drug-addicted sentient towels, accidental incestual cannibalism, and Tom Cruise.
From its early days as a collection of construction-paper cut outs and mother-shocking plots ("Did you know they have a talking piece of POO?") to its current incarnation with animation as complex and stunning as its biting humor (mothers across the globe still fixated on "that one time there was a talking poo"), South Park is a true classic.
