“His best album yet. It's one of those albums that you need to listen to from start to finish the first couple of times around. He's definitely a lot more focused and more self-reflective when compared to his past work. So far my favorite tracks are Monster, So Appalled, Runaway, and Lost in the World. Also, I recommend listening to Woods by Bon Iver before listening to Lost in the World.”
“Amazing album: Kanye is making Rap/Hip-Hop move forward in a beautiful way.
'808 and Heartbreak' —his 3rd album was about using varied and electronic sounds. Well with this one, he's putting the best of him in every song. You can despise him as a jet-set egocentric, but you can't take down his music!”
“I'm a huge Kanye West fan, so buying this album was essential. And, It's amazingly good. I'm really impressed. Some albums only have a few songs that can be overplayed and are still amazing as when you first heard it. But this album, every song in it, is just shockingly amazing. I absolutely love this album.”
“some amazing work right here”
“UH-mazing, this album is fantastic. There's some great beats an some very clever verses. Theirs also a huge variety of sounds throughout the album, definitely must be considered for purchase.”
“GREAT ALBUM MUST BUY FOR INDIE OR RAP FANS”
“Not sure whether I love it or hate it yet... some very unique sounds and styles, something I can say is that Kanye seems to go out of his way to sing poorly on a few different occasions. On a finished album it seems a strange choice when he's such a big fan of auto-tune!”
“I liked it but its not my favorite album of all time.”
“An instant classic. Great job, Mr. West.”
“Got this after hearing everyone rave about it. My thoughts: The music is great, Kanye's flow is good, but his lyrics are boring when compared to Lil Wayne (which is hilarious) or Eminem (who is super clever).”
“wayyy too long but good for lifting weights:))”
“LOVE this CD! I have this guilty love for almost all of Kanye's music but he has lost his mind (see 'Runaway' music video/movie with interview, can be found on MTV.com **this is at least a 60min commitment!). I highly recommend this album, as it's one of those that you can listen to from start to finish without skipping any tracks.”
“he may be a bitch, but he has great music”
“I was a little iffy about buying this album but i'm such a fan of Kanye. I'm so happy I purchased it!!”
“I really like All of the Lights featuring Rihanna. As much of an ass as Kanye is, he does put out a great song.”
“I've been listening to this album for two days straight. I won't say that it's Kanye's best album but it's 10xs better than anything else out there. The music and his attention to detail are so amazing. Unlike anything else you’ll here in a hip hop album. But what do I know… I liked the 808 album too.”
“love all of his albums!”
“Best album of the year.”
- Really the weird thing about Kanye's arrogance is that it's actually real. You know, with other rappers they're arrogant on record but not really in real life. But Kanye is actually arrogant all the time. I think that is one interesting thing about this new album -- Kanye's whole simultaneous self-congratulatory/self-loathing dualism is just foregrounded to an insane degree - it gives the whole thing this bizarre and complicated emotional tenor.
I'm agnostic on the point, as I don't really know much about the guy. But that description fascinates me.
