“Jean-Michel Basquiat is considered one of the most important artists in the last 50 years. One of his pieces recently sold at auction for nearly $15M. While he was quite prolific during his short life (he produced 1,000 paintings before dying of a drug overdose at age 26), the universe of existing Basquiat paintings is relatively small. I recently attended a Basquiat retrospective and it was a big, bold show. This documentary does a nice job of chronicling Basquiat's life. I found the discussion of his life fascinating (although it didn't leave me much of a fan of Basquiat).”
