“It's 22F and windy, I'm starving, I buy groceries on the way home, eat my steak, and realize I forgot neosporin for a cut. Having eaten, I walk back to Giant and fill up a bag of chapstick, neosporin, cleaning supplies, and other non-food items, only to get home and realize I forgot distilled water! I did not go to Giant a third time.

“Giant now sells hormone & anti-biotic free ground beef patties, 85% lean, for $5.70/lb. I'm .. so.. conflicted. Is this healthy? Cheap? Convenient? Does it count as home cooking? Normal 80/20 ground beef can be $2.70/lb, and steak can be $5.70/lb. Is it a good value because it's natural, but less so because it's only 85% lean, but more so because it's already formed into patties? What about the competitor's 93% lean natural beef which isn't in patties, but which you let spoil last week because you were too busy to even bother?

Well, considering I used to live on pop-tarts, I'm just buying it for now.”
