“Now this is a war movie worth seeing. Directed by Stanley Kubrick, it is of course very stylistic and therefore somewhat overstated and not terribly realistic. But it tells the story of war more truthfully, I think, than others that try to be as believable as possible. Though it was made in 1987, it still feels fresh, unlike so many others made in the '80's. Kubrick balances the horrors of war and the people who wage it with the humor characteristic of his other works.”
