“A surprisingly good little film, but uneven as the better story telling goes to Julia, making Julie feel like an afterthought. You could have made an entire movie about Julia Child's life alone and had it be fascinating. Sadly a lot of the really interesting parts of her life, working as a spy for the OSS and such are merely talked about. Julia's story picks up a great deal later in her life. Julie on the other hand is a bit of a whiner, a complainer, and in the end you wonder what did she ever really learn.
That having been said it's still an entertaining movie and Meryl Streep is of course one of the greatest actors of all time. Yes I said ACTORS not actresses, as that would limit her to not being greater than male actors, which she often is.
Check it out as a rental.”

“This movie was cute. I would watch it again. However I was inspired to look up Julie's story... I think Julia Child's assessment that she just does things for attention is pretty accurate. Just read the summary of her second book! Watch it if you're in to girly, feel good movies.. I think Julie's struggle to find happiness the way it is portrayed in the movie is ultimately something a lot of people can identify with.”
