gkruis I am amazed at how much I love some of his stuff because My Blueberry Nights was one of the worst movies I've ever seen.

fnoo I've managed to steer clear of most of his disasters, not so much out of choice or avoidance. It's more that I haven't gotten to them yet. His fairly new one, whatever it was -- it has a date in the title, sort of a spiritual successor to In the Mood for Love -- it just hasn't presented itself to me. But I'm curious, despite the scorn thrown at it.

fnoo Right. Also the year before Hong Kong loses its autonomy and falls totally under China's central control.

amtheobscure @gkruis It's visually stunning and a beautiful love story spanning the past, present and future.

gkruis Great reasons. The climax is so incredible, too! It's like taking all of the sad messed up elements from "Requiem's" ending, and replacing them with beautiful things; the same pace, but inspiring rather than depressing.
