“I've been in love with Greek mythology since about second grade. I saw this movie months ago via Amazon. Then I bought all the books on my Kindle and FELL IN LOVE with the books. Then I watched the movie again... and although I do still like the movie, and can deal with a lot of the changes - they never leave a book spotless when they turn it into a movie, I'm a realist, I can deal with that - one thing in particular irritated the heck out of me:
Hades.
The god, the place, and his bride.
Anybody else up on Greek mythology??? The author of the BOOKS was. HE portrayed it all right. So WHY did the script writers/directors/movie producers in their infinite "wisdom" decide to "fire and brimstone" it and make it look like the modern concept of Hell??? They made Hades the god look, at points, like the Devil, or at least a demon. They made Persephone hate him (though I confess I loved her line "what are you going to do to me? I'm already in HELL."). And, to confuse matters even more - and add insult to injury, as far as mythology is concerned - they had Persephone confined to Hades at the WRONG TIME OF THE YEAR. They were there in June. Persephone is supposed to be there in the winter, not the summer. AARRRGGGHHHH.
Still a good movie, though. AND, I was searching for oil lamps online last summer and found GORGEOUS pottery by a lady in New England, and it turned out she did all the pottery for the movie!! I have two pieces by her now.”

“I have to give "Percy Jackson & The Lightening Thief" a B+. I actually have a lot to say about this movie. I loved the movie. I loved that the movie got right into the action and didn't wait. I didn't find any of it boring - It was very entertaining. I enjoyed the story and felt that it was pretty different. I am really surprised that it's for kids... I'm 23 but some of those special effects were very scary and if I was five years old, I would be beyond scared. Speaking of special effects, they were excellent. My only downside for the movie is the acting. It was beyond bad. A lot of it was laughable. Luckily, the special effects and the story made up for the acting. I definitely would see it again and recommend it.”
