“I can't lie, I saw they added this and had to watch it. It was, predictably, adorable. Also kind of makes me wish I was born in a supposed "third world" nation--the babies from rural Mongolia and a traditional African family looked so much happier than the ones stuck in Tokyo and San Francisco! Hrmm...”
“Dear babies, why do you have to be so adorable?
You know with a documentary titled Babies, it won't fail to be cute; it definitely didn't.
The lack of subtitles made the messages communicated through imagery so much stronger. The juxtaposition of some scenes was brilliant and highlighted some definite comedic contrast; I was laughing hard at some points.
Without using words, this film not only exposed me to cultural differences in child-rearing practices, but also overall differences in lifestyles. I think the lack of words helped to strip each story of bias and prevented viewers from making solid value judgements, in a way. At times, I did find myself judging how some parents carried out certain tasks, but I'd consider it more unpleasant had the scenes been aided with commentary from a traditionally Western perspective.
Everything aside though, I mainly watched this film for the babies; yay babies.
P.S. I think the baby from America has Pagan parents; just a semi-conclusive guess based on one scene, but it would be totally awesome if that were true.”
“Not as interesting as I was hoping. And the giant African breasts continuously in Jaden's, Heather's, and my face made it a tad uncomfortable. BUT! New use for a corn husk: Wipe your baby's poo on your knee, then rub it off with said husk! Educational!”
“Slow moving but adorable.... very interesting to see how different cultures raise their children.”
“we get to see how all these babies from all over the world grow and develop on all the same levels at the same ages”
“I'm sure this movie is not to everyone's taste.I can see where some would find it boring as there isn't any dialogue. I found it awesome. I loved seeing glimpses of cultures I am totally unfamiliar with.”
“very very cute...... This movie just makes you laugh.”
“If you're pregnant, watch it. If you're not, don't.”
“Cant believe Maggie made me watch this!! "This is like baby porn! WTF" - my uncle”
“If you like documentaries and babies, you'll like this”
“adorable but im glad i didnt see it in the theatre!

“Oh for the love of... I dislike babies.”
“Awesome movie - very little talking, all visual journey through pregnancy, birth and early years of babies in four different cultures”
“A
www.... That's what you and everyone you watch this movie with will be saying the whole time. It's a cute movie with just a bunch of babies doing really cute things, and a bunch of boobies. Mom boobies.”
“If you want to see a short movie filled with cuteness.”
