Into the Arms of Strangers Reviews

“This is a difficult movie. It is about and underground railroad - kindertransport - a program that got 10,000+ young Jewish children out of Nazi Germany. It is a mix of archival footage and interviews with the survivors (many years later).
I can't imagine the difficulty the parents had sending their child off to strangers. Of course, it is hard to imagine what those who stayed suffered, too. It took a lot of courage - the children, the parents, the host families.

“Another doc about the Holocaust. This one is about the Kindertransport that took children from Germany, Poland, and Austria (and other countries that I can't remember right now) to England to live with families. England was the only country to do anything like this, sad to say, but not even the US wanted to help.”
“This is not the best constructed documentary I've seen, but the subject matter is fascinating. Thousands of children were taken in by British families in the months preceding the official declaration of WWII. The documentary recounts the path of a number of the young Jewish children who were sent to England (without their parents) to escape the holocaust. The powerful stories of these adults retelling the tales of their experiences is both engrossing and heart breaking. Well worth watching.”
