“Seriously, one of the best Kung Fu movies to ever come out of hong kong. It's a big budget movie filmed like one of those old 70s Kung Fu movies so the action is intense and amazingly choreographed while the sets and dialog can remain pleasantly corny. It's the true story about Ip Man, the greatest Kung Fu master from the 1930s to 1970s, who's also the guy that trained Bruce lee. Some say Ip Man is possibly the greatest Kung Fu master of all time. This movie focuses on his life in the 1930's to 40s. Can't wait to see Ip Man 2, the part that focuses on his life from the 1950s and 60s.”
“Ip Man is a seriously SICK kung-fu flick about Bruce Lee's master during the time of the Japanese occupation during WW2. The fight scenes in this movie are very well choreographed. This man's handspeed would make Manny Pacquiao jealous..”
“Hell of a fighter who was an early trainer of Bruce Lee, so yea it has to be good”
“If you like Kung Fu movie, watch it.”
“My husband is a big fan of Bruce Lee and Ip Man is about his teacher. This movie is a "based on true events" type of drama about the WWII struggles in China focusing on Ip Man. The plot does not talk about after WWII (when he was teaching his techniques to students such as Bruce Lee) but it gives a lot of insight into how life was before and during the war.”
“This guy is amazing. Ip Man was Bruce Lee's mentor and this is his biography, though I feel it was very loosely based on fact. But who cares the fight scenes are amazing. They will blow you away.”
“Would've been 100 times better had it not been dubbed to english. Subtitles PLEASE!. Pretty good regardless though!”
“Oh my God! Ip Man. Wait... I already reviewed this one.. But who cares. The fight scenes are AMAZING! This movie made me feel like a kid again when I used to watch those Bruce Lee flicks”
“This was an amazing Kung Fu flick. Interesting that this Master was the one who trained Bruce Lee”
“I liked this movie the only thing i had a problem with is when there wasn't and subtitles to when the japanese soldiers spoke or when the chinese words took the screen but besides that good movie”
“The best fighting movie I've ever seen.”
“Good action/ martial arts movies are hard to come by. This was well acted, the historical references and humor where appropriate, and the martial arts sequences were great.”
“never seen it, so why is it in my review?”
“AWESOME!!! Holy crap, I completely love this movie in every way!”
“KUNG FU like NO OTHER! WOW”
“Even though this movie is not in English and you have to read the subtitles it's well worth it. Starts out with Mater Ip Living in a wealth house with his wife and son. But later on Japan invades china and take away everything. Now Master Ip works in a coal factory to make a income for his family. The Japanese pick up fighters from the coal factory to fight in tourment and Master Ip is forced into fighting the general.”
“Great chinese fighting movie”
“best martial art movie i have seen in a long time”
