“This app starts out as being incredibly fun, because you can see the potential for meeting up with friends, but soon becomes rather boring because of the lack of users, and limited availability of uses. If you have a good amount of friends already using this app it might be a great tool for social networking, but if not, you will soon become discouraged with it.”

“What is there to tell? I'm mayor at 40-43 places, I have 26 badges, and close to 2400 checkins. I love the app.”

“I admit it - I'm pretty addicted. The connection to my favorite places got me interested, the gaming mechanics sucked me in, and the social utility of knowing where my friends are is the icing on top. The gaming mechanics are much more straightforward than Gowalla's, and their "mayor" incentive is such a more natural fit with retailer interaction / engagement than what Gowalla has employed.”

“I love this program it has some GPS issues that may be my phone and some speed issues but other than that it has a very clean interface, ease of use and the sorting system for your favorite places is great. At first they did not have a good way to add people as your friend on this app but it eventually got better. At this time now though I use this program on my Nexus One so I now own the Android version.”

“I am mayor of my neighbor's toilet. Seriously. Check it out. Foursquare was fun initially but gets old and boring quick. Maybe they'll use this space to shake it up a bit more. In the meanwhile, if you want to pee in my neighbors WC you gotta go through me.”

“Foursquare app is a no brainer people! Find your friends on a Tuesday night or just check in for specials at your local. Lots of fun, best day was when I unlocked the Real Housewives Badge by going to the gym, a coffee shop, then the salon in one day. :)”

“pretty cool app and integration with fb and twitter. would be nice if you could post pictures with check-ins or shout outs. unfortunately that functionality isn't there yet. other apps like gowalla that have reward systems seem to be more compelling but foursquare has cool things like deals with local businesses so that if you check in or are mayor you get perks at their places of business. another reason i use it is because it's what most of my friends use as a social check in app.”

“I have use Foursquare almost since it came out, and I still not sure what I think of it. I am probably not the best candidate for it, since I don't travel a lot and am not in the target age group. That being said for most part I like the application it is easy to use and intuitive. The biggest complaint I have is there is no way to add pictures, or least I don't know a way. The other problem is sometimes where foursquare shows you can be off, although that has improved a lot overtime.”

“Besides registering, it is a great application. I personally recommend that once you download the app, that you go on a laptop or desktop to foursquare.com and create an account, then go on the app and log in. Creating an account on the application itself seemed to not work for me as it could not "locate" me, even though it really was.

Besides that little portion, its a great application. I give it 4 over 5 stars.”

“Great as a city guide, great for spotting special offers ... The game element is one thing, and it is fun to jostle for position with your peers, for checkin points and badges, but the ramifications for businesses, especially in the retail and licensed trades, are really excellent, too.

The platform continues to improve, the network is outgrowing Twitter (at the same stage of life), and users are amongst the most-engaged online. If you get lost ... someone will help. Just ask!”
