“I think it's a very nice Media Player...^^”
“Seriously one of the best iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch apps out there, ever.
When this came out I could not have downloaded this any quicker. It basically allows you to not just play .MP4 on your device anymore. This supports almost ANY format, and will play it on the device. You have the file on your computer, could be .AVI, .WMV or anything, then go into apps on the device section of iTunes once it's plugged in, then scroll down to the "File Sharing" part, where VLC will be a app option there now. Then just click add file, and away you go.
This will not convert the file (So it's also damn quick) it will transcode it inside, which is a much better and quicker way of getting the file working on the device. This takes less than a minute for a 45 minute show. Once it's on, you can now go into the VLC app and watch the stuff you synced over.
Now, of-course the screen size on the iPhone and iPod touch is a lot smaller than a computer screen (Not including the iPad... kinda), but it still presents and keeps it's full quality of how it was on the computer.
Really amazing app. I have a feeling it's going to be pulled from the app store soon (Been reading about it in places) so get it while it's still there. I strongly suggest it.
And, it's free!”
“DOESNT WORK ON IPHONE3GS OR 2nd GEN IPODS”
“VLC Media Player is my favorite players of all players. It will open any type of file, video or music, no matter how corrupt it is. VLC is so good that I suspect it could even open some doors and a bunch of canned goods if you wanted it to.
There’s no surprise really that VLC is coming to the iPhone. If you have a jailbroken iPhone, VLC is good to go. It can also be installed on the iPod Touch and, at least for me, it’s a must. Watching videos will be so much easier now. You won’t have to transform video files into MP4. Just copy your favorite videos to your iPhone and play them with VLC. Easy as that!”
“FINALLY, i don't have to wait hours just to encode videos to mp4 so I can sync them to my iOS devices. This app, available for iPad and iPhone/iPod Touch, simply allows you to add pretty much any video formatted file (e.g, AVI, WMV, etc) onto the ipad without the hassle of converting it first.
The result is that now you can put videos on your mobile devices and watch them JUST like you do on your PC. You don't have to worry about what format it's in..it'll work on VLC just fine. Do a youtube search to see this bad boy in action. God Bless You VLC creators.
The app's free...frosting on the cake.”
“a great play-all media player app for when you need to take content with you. generally only handles DVD-sized video frames and probably has a peak bitrate of 1-1.5mbps at most. i prefer AirVideo for WLAN playback! otherwise, and OK solution for many people.”
“Play video on the iPad that isn't normally supported. Good solution until mr. Jobs starts enabling more video formats for the native video player.. ;)”
“VLC Media Player for iPhone? Holy crap, it's a must have. For those who doesn't know what VLC is, it's originally meant for PC and Mac, it's a media player with all the video codecs you'll ever need to play any type of video format. Don't know what that means? It means you can pretty much play any form of media on this media player. The fact that it's now for iPhone is amazing, allthough I haven't tried ti so much yet so I'm still unsure wether I'd recommend it or not, I'd say give it a shot, see if you like it, if not, then delete it.”
“i lovee this! now i can take my avi videos anywhere i go.”
“We all know how well VLC works on our desktops, though it isn't quite the same on our mobile devices. I guess the app was pulled, but for what it's worth you should definitely have tried to get it while it was there.
VLC can play a number of formats on the iPad and iPhone. Using it on the iPhone 3G didn't quite give me the optimum experience I desired. It was a different story on the iPhone 4 on which the player worked brilliantly. The volume keys work within the app and the layout is simple and neat. What I didn't like was how I got warnings like "Your iPhone is probably too slow to play this movie correctly" on occasion. Then the video doesn't move at all or skips a lot of frames, but audio keeps playing. This happens a lot with 720p videos on the iPhone 4, but on the 3G and 3GS it happened even with some other videos I had.
You can use iTunes to drag and drop the videos you want onto the VLC app icon. It will transfer the files you want so that you can play them on your phone.”
“Brilliant, just what the iPad needed, a simple way to play videos of all formats without conversion.”
“Not a bad application for the iPad. Higher quality content does struggle but so it does save you the process of converting files suitable for iPad”
“I love this app you can play all your avi files on it”
“The go-to video player for desktops now available on your iOS device. When you install the app, it gets added to the 'This app supports file transers' section in iTunes. This is where you can easily select the files that get moved to your device that to be played with the VLC app.”
“this makes it easier to watch downloaded movies :)”
