My writers are on vacation, so my advanced apologies for the product descriptions. (I'm quite often more funny in my own mind than anywhere else).
XTG Technology XTG-BMWIP
I love this thing. I bought it for a camping trip to make charging my cell phone easier, and works like a charm. My only concern is that given it is a solar device, it seems the glue holding the solar cells to the device doesn't endure hours in the sun (and eventually separates). It still works, but had to re-attach the solar panel to the unit.
· $29.99 electronics from Amazon
saunieindiego How hot was the place that un-stuck the glue? I vacation at Lake Havasu where the temperatures sometimes reach 120 degrees.
KingTomato It sat in my car (black dash) on the windshield. i would guess 140 or so (given a nice hot, sunny day and couldn't even hold on to it once I took it down. The glue is easily fixed, but shouldn't have been an issue since it's made for direct sunlight.
Panasonic 12MP Digital Camera with Leica 12x Optical Zoom & HD Video
LOVE this camera. Great picture quality, options, and zoom. Fantastic for a point-and-shoot, I must say.

beverlynoelle I hate when that happens :(
ViewSonic gTablet 10.1" Multi-touch Tablet
I guess we'll see how this works out. My first venture in to the tablet world. Supposedly the specs on this kick butt, but the viewing angle is a little bad. But it's got some serious power, and if i root it and throw a new ROM on it should make an excellent angry birds console--i mean multi-purpose device. ;p
KingTomato @impulsebuyer nope, $284.99 w/shipping. And I'll def. give a review once I play with it and SmartPost delivers (hows may looking for you? ;p)
impulsebuyer That'd be great. I'm trying to compile a good amount of evidence before taking the plunge myself.
KingTomato @impulsebuyer So that had to be the fastest I've ever gotten something from woot. Ever.

Anyways, charging it now, my guess it late tonight or tomorrow it'll be ready to play with. I'll keep ya posted.
beverlynoelle @KingTomato Are you actually waiting for it to charge? Because once I get something, I want to use it like YESTERDAY!
impulsebuyer @kingtomato I eagerly await the verdict.
KingTomato So, took on a trip to Florida with me. I have to say the viewing angle does stink, but the tablet itself is awesome. The OEM froyo with viewsonics tap apparently sucks, but you load tnt or vegan ROM on it and the thing screams. All in all, wish I bought one again during the Woot off.
Nikita: The Complete First Season
I'll admit it, I watch this show. I'll even go so far as to admit I watches the original LeFemme Nikita back in the day. ;-)
· $18.99 from Amazon
beverlynoelle I like the original, but I haven't seen this yet!
fnoo That's right. I forgot there was an earlier TV adaptation. It ran on the USA Network, right?
KingTomato @fnoo If I had to guess, yes.
White Collar Season 2
I love this show. had to show my support by purchasing it, haven watching this unravel and get more in-depth with character building.

Kingston 16 GB Class 4 SDHC Flash Memory Card SD4/16GBET
I forget what I bough this for, but I'm sure it'll come to me. Besides, "Kingston" just sounds like a cool name; royalty even. Maybe that's it, maybe this is my ticket to royalty...

KingTomato @bleeper Interesting. Do you know if the same holds true with RAM? I swear by this brand when building a new computer.
KingTomato @bleeper intersting. if it weren't an anandtech article, I don't think I would have believed it.
Meh
What? I needed something to portray my attitude at work.
beverlynoelle Stickin' it to the man!
riddlefish Lol. I feel like there are many more "Meh" moments in life than "Like" moments. It's like My Life is Average, haha. (Have you heard of it?)
KingTomato @riddlefish INope, haven't heard of it, but I bet Google has--I'll have to check it out. And i agree, there are more "meh" moments. (Though, to my observation, those moments seem to begin with "Hey Brad, can you" during work hours--Maybe there's a correlation, or maybe I'm just speculating. ;p)
Spirit Animal
It'll probably be done by the time I get it, but I just had to...
riddlefish What do you mean "done"? What is this??
KingTomato @riddlefish : Look closely at the striped, and think about one of the biggest (entertainment) topics in the news right now. Ahem--WINNING!
riddlefish LOL. Awesome--I thought that tiger looked like it was on some sort of drug, but I wasn't sure which one until right now. ;D
Human Target: The Complete Second Season
I'm really liking this show. Kinda started off as a fun show to watch, but starting to get interesting with character building and progression.

The Social Network
Everyone was telling me I had to see this, and I'm glad I did. I respect the heck out of Mark & Facebook. The organization, their use of open-source software and re-contributing, keeping companies like Microsoft and Google on their game (and even hiring from them ), and, oh, the sarcastic humor that comes along with it.

I know it's not 100% accurate to what happened (I'm sure certain liberties were taken to make it movie-worthy) but this was still great insight and entertainment in to how Facebook started. Goes to show you timing is everything (just ask Xerox or Steve Jobs back in the 80's)

gkruis you came away respecting facebook and mark? i feel like a lot of people came off wanting to quit facebook, especially cause mark is so unfeeling.
girlfriday Very interesting review! I really enjoyed the movie!
fnoo Yeah, the movie is basically fiction informed by facts. Doesn't matter; it still paints an interesting picture of a kind of person in a kind of situation at a kind of time.
KingTomato @gkruis: Keep in mind it's a movie, not a documentary. And I've respected him since square one (was an early adopter of FB). My respect comes from how it went from a personal PC to global while maintaining performance/stability (unlike twitter--fail wale ring a bell?) They use open-source soft., make optimizations/improvements & re-contrib back to the community. Also, the business model is fantastic; freedom to create, motivation to try harder, comradery, & cutting-edge stuff.
House Season 7
Love this show. And gotta love Amazon + Google TV.

The Wheels on the Bus by Paul O. Zelinsky
Yea, that's right--I bough it. What? I needed some "on my way in to work" music. (don't judge me).

(actually for a 3 year old, and a good remake of the originals, complete with cartoon animations)

Peopleware: Productive Projects and Teams by Tom DeMarco
Interesting book that goes over how to manage a software project. Includes what an estimated due date is really about (we all know, me especially, we have a tendency to be over-confident or maybe too pleasing with deadlines). Anyone in software development, I recommend this (programmers and managers alike).

Random Crap
Also known as, the bundle of joy.

KingTomato @heiditron : Yes. You're guaranteed crap, but ~3 people get two items and a letter (which I've gotten). The letter says the third item was "too big to fit in the box" & ships separ. I got a TV, some X-Boxes, etc. (Check out the "community" link on woot.com and find the Bag of crap item. People post pics of their "haul")
@drpepper234: Oh, I did. ;p
KingTomato @gkruis: woot.com sells an item/day, but about once every 2-3 months they do a "woot-off". They sell items back to back until it's either sold out/~hr passes. They continue on for about 2-3 days. On the second/third day (the end of the woot-off) an item called the BOC (Bag of Crap) comes up. Usually at this point the servers crash from thousands of people trying to buy it (for $8, including shipping).
(Sorry, 500 character limit)
saunieindiego Would I get the same type of email notice like I do every night at 10PST with the woot item, and the sellout woot?
KingTomato @shewalksdogs It's usually a newsletter that tells you a woot-off is coming, but nothing tells you the next item is a BoC. ;-)
gkruis weird. i don't know if i get it, but i'm going to check out the website. for some reason i thought they just did t-shirts.
saunieindiego Okay thanks I'll just have to keep my eye out for it :-)

I love this kit, honestly. Very handy, and has just about any tool you'd need. The only problem I have is the "holder". Wish it was a bit better quality plastic, but still great.
