I had the Poltergeist tree outside my bedroom window as a kid. Its fingers would always scratch against the house at night.
There also used to be a big fireman sticker on the window -- the kind to alert people that there's a kid in the room. At some point I ripped it off, leaving an imperfect circular shape with certain missing patches.

One night I was startled by the branches on the window; when I glanced up, the moonlight caught the sticker goo, creating a vague outline of a skull. And there were glowing eyes looking though the sockets. I froze and stared for what seemed like an hour. Then I leapt up and yelped, and the cat on the other side of the window scampered off the porch roof.
