Food, Inc.
This is a very eye opening documentary about where our food comes from. This covers the issues of "big business food" and how our meat suppliers have dwindled to just a handful of giant companies. This also talks about some of the issues with hormones used to make food bigger and, therefore more profitable. It also shows some of the issues regarding unsavory employment practices by large meat houses. One of the sadder parts was the profile of chicken farmers who own their own businesses - but are really more like slaves to the Tyson Chicken company.
I'm sure the filmmakers made this film with a bit of an agenda, because there really was no "other side" represented. Maybe that's because the "other side" doesn't have a leg to stand on. I always enjoy documentaries that show me things I didn't already know. This movie did that, and did it in an interesting way. I really think this is worth watching for anybody who is willing to have an open mind about things. If you go into this with a plan to hate anybody who challenges big business, then you aren't going to like this film.
