amyuhrich I honestly don't know where I'd be without UPS (well, and FedEx). But I would highly recommend not shipping anything valuable with either one (including computers). Bad luck on my end no matter how well it's packaged.
riddlefish If anything deserves an "awesome" it's this. Good buy, good buy.

Troops Need You is pioneering the launch of Operation Afghanistan Vision: a wide-scale program supplying eye glasses to rural Afghanistan communities. The program will allow Special Forces to gain cover inside villages and obtain one-on-one time with selected individuals without arousing Taliban suspicions – as well as further the development of trust and camaraderie with Afghan citizens.

This particular purchase is for reading glasses. TNY is currently in the process of purchasing a large supply of prescription glasses from Future Optics.

fnoo How does it work, exactly, ordering prescriptions in bulk? Are there statistics as to what prescriptions you'll be most likely to need, in what percentage of the population?

Macy's
Bought a cutting board from Macy's for SPC Mike. He got hit by a sniper in Baghdad--then in the confusion, his legs got run over by a US Stryker. One could say the f----- "fog of war." Anyway, he's as good a guy as you could meet and his fiance would like to get the kitchen stocked with appliances. So I went shopping with a Battle Buddy who bought $750 worth of kitchen wares for Mike and his fiance. The Battle Buddy isn't on Blippy yet (a bit of a paleo-tech, I guess) so I bought this item so the purchase would show up and we could tell this awesome story.
· $20.99 credit card purchase
TroopsNeedYou Martha Stewart Bamboo Cutting Boards...yippee. Actually, part of a $1k purchase from a TNY sponsor for housewares for SPC Mike (wounded in Iraq--known as the Don of Walter Reed since he's been there longest--over two years!) and his fiancee to help them move on to the next chapter of life.
jacq that's awesome!
Pay Courthouse Green
Then, SGT said "Thanks for saving my car. Don't want to push my luck," he continued, but the sheriff is posting an eviction notice on our apartment (fell behind one month on rent during the surgery complications)." By law, he had 72 hours to pay and we wired the funds the next day. SGT King and his wife are doing well, glad to still have their car and home--thanks to everyone who donated for that amazing opportunity to help an American hero!

Gotcha Recovery Inc, Chandler AZ 85225
just-in-time payment to get Marine SGT King's family car out of impound. He had to park in a handicapped spot but his placard was expired b/c Army didn't renew his in time. So he got towed, then had surgery complications that prevented him from going back to get it. Once the total hit $3,000 Gotcha notified him they were confiscating his car to sell at auction in 72 hours. He called us, we told Gotcha the story, they lowered fee to $1600, and we wired funds next day. SGT King and his wife have their car back!
· $1,600 credit card purchase
huyhong Dude, awesome. The world needs more folks like you. And Gotcha Recovery is a horrible name for a towing company.
