adidas Kids Samba® Suede (Toddler/Youth)
This are awesome sneakers. They look great. But they are suede, so they get dirty pretty quickly.
8: The Mormon Proposition
This was a truly fascinating and disturbing documentary. As someone who worked hard to defeat California's Proposition 8, it was upsetting to learn about the Mormon Church's strong arm tactics to raise millions of dollars in support of the proposition.
Anatolian Kitchen: $25 Groupon for Dinner-Menu Fare
Good falafel. Very good service. And one of the few restaurants that most of the family can agree upon.
Jean-Michel Basquiat: The Radiant Child
Jean-Michel Basquiat is considered one of the most important artists in the last 50 years. One of his pieces recently sold at auction for nearly $15M. While he was quite prolific during his short life (he produced 1,000 paintings before dying of a drug overdose at age 26), the universe of existing Basquiat paintings is relatively small. I recently attended a Basquiat retrospective and it was a big, bold show. This documentary does a nice job of chronicling Basquiat's life. I found the discussion of his life fascinating (although it didn't leave me much of a fan of Basquiat).
· movie from Netflix
chrismolnar awesome! i love the biopic about him, have to check this out.
PUMA Benecio Canvas
Love these shoes. They are really fun (unless you don't like very very bright footware).
· $112.98 from Zappos
amyuhrich I LOVE bright footwear :) Do they come in any other colors?
Bottle Shock
This is a really terrible movie. The acting is bad. The pacing is bad. The script is bad. It is just terrible.
productjoy the most terrible thing in this movie definitely had to be Chris Pine's hair.
riddlefish Hm. I've never heard of this. What genre is it? (Besides bad.)
Into the Arms of Strangers
This is not the best constructed documentary I've seen, but the subject matter is fascinating. Thousands of children were taken in by British families in the months preceding the official declaration of WWII. The documentary recounts the path of a number of the young Jewish children who were sent to England (without their parents) to escape the holocaust. The powerful stories of these adults retelling the tales of their experiences is both engrossing and heart breaking. Well worth watching.
30 Rock
My son is a Thirty Rock fanatic.
· tv season from Netflix
PF Flyers Center Hi
Super cool but didn't fit my kid.
· $56 from Zappos
amyuhrich Hm...I read these ran true to size? Not so?
bestfriend bummer.
riddlefish Dang. You can exchange them though, right??
impulsebuyer Don't you just hate when that happens? Oh well, you can always regift ;)
RightOn Sucks bro. before I buy anything I post a lot of stuff to Opinionaided app. Its quick and dirty (aka really fast and the people are blunt with their opinions)
Julie & Julia
My whole family enjoys this movie. Meryl Streep is at her very best here. Worth watching the movie just to enjoy Streep's performance. I personally could do without the Julie (Amy Adams) part of the movie. I have no problem with Adams' performance, I'd just rather have more Julia Child.
beverlynoelle That is exactly how I felt! Meryl is just amazing.
$40 Groupon to Three Seasons
Love Three Seasons. Love getting a discount at Three Seasons.
SemtexGirl Where's Three Seasons?
riddlefish What sort of food do they have? It sounds right up my alley. :D
Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work
The Joan Rivers documentary is at moments funny, but mostly pretty melancholy. Joan herself is the hardest woman in show business. But you wonder why she bothers. She seems to measure her life by her ability to employ a staff of a dozen but then has to fly all over the planet doing any work she can get to support them. In the end, she seems very lonely.
· movie from Netflix
SemtexGirl She's one of those people you love to watch being a bitch.
Julian Hornik - Artist's Lament
It is probably inappropriate for me to review my own son's song. But, for what it is worth, this song is awesome :)
· $0.99 album from iTunes
productjoy that's cute =) there's nothing better than a parent supporting his kid!
riddlefish Cool! How long has he been a musician?
rebecca_logan saw you link this in that doctor who discussion, i had to click on it. i loved the nerve that your son had to write, record, and post this video. im glad the proceeds go to the trevor project. give him a hug and say thank you for the effort to putting an end to homosexual segregation for me?
davidhornik @rebecca_logan Thanks much. I think it is great that my kids are willing to stand up for what they believe in.

The comments above are about another song Julian wrote, but here's the link to the video you are talking about: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50XlnvLZt-M
rebecca_logan ...i saw his name, not the song title. sorry. but either way, congrats on the great musician.
Quiksilver Kids Travis Rice Youth Jacket (Big Kids)
Noah is a fan of this boarding jacket.
$20 Groupon to Books Inc.
Books Inc is a great bookstore. What is the morally correct thing to do when you already frequent a business? Should you use a Groupon? Or is that inappropriate? I struggle with that question.

saunieindiego I love when Groupon has something I already love. I present my Groupon proudly! So should you!
girlfriday I think it's always kosher to use Groupon! Don't be shy!
riddlefish Hey, you're posting it on Blippy and thus possibly introducing completely new people to the company. You've done your share, now enjoy your groupon!
amyuhrich @riddlefish Good logic :)
productjoy @riddlefish girl i totally agree! ahahhaa
@davidhornik go for the groupon!!! if you frequent them that often, its about time you got a discount =)
Exit Through the Gift Shop
This is a fantastic "documentary." The only problem is that I'm not sure if it is, in fact, a documentary. I think there is a reasonable chance that the entire thing is a setup. Who's documentary is it? Who is it actually about? Is the art world a total scam? These, and many other questions, are left open after watching "exit Through the Gift Shop." Please watch this movie and let me know what you think. You'll enjoy it.
· movie from Netflix
girlfriday I can't wait to stream this ...
dive_philospher im glad that i'm not the only person out there wondering if this was really a "documentary"
chrismolnar so good.
Hurley Kids One & Only L/S Rashguard (Big Kids)
Love the sunshirt. So much easier than sunscreen.
productjoy and not as smelly/sticky!
amyuhrich Oh, weird....so is this kind of like Under Armour (wicks moisture)? Does it cause sweating? I just can't imagine wearing long sleeves in the summer.
pud I was in Hawaii last weekend. Everyone was using rashguards, I made a comment, "I have rash back hair to keep me from getting burned," that I think grossed everyone out.

Probably having the same affect here on Blippy. :(
$10 Groupon to Douce France Cafe and Bakery
My wife is a big fan of Douce France.
The Rape of Europa
This is a stunning movie. It chronicles the fate of the most important art in Europe during the course of World War II. Hitler, a failed artist, and his highest officers were all art "collectors" -- which is to say that they stole the most important art in the world for their own purposes. In an effort to protect the important pieces in Paris's Louvre and Russia's Hermitage, both museums were evacuated during WWII and sent into the countryside. It is stunning the efforts made to protect the art during this horrible war but, in many instances to no avail -- 50 Million people died and thousands of the greatest pieces of art were lost. It is a great reminder of the immense inhumanity and horror of WWII.
· movie from Netflix
impulsebuyer That sounds really interesting. What has become of the stolen pieces of art.. were they recovered after the war ended?
riddlefish Oh, wow. This sounds like a history less on I could get behind. It's probably a downer, though, right? ;p
girlfriday I can't get enough of these art docs. Netflix is art doc porn.
Converse All Star® Slip
It would appear that we can litterally never have too many pairs of laceless Converse in the house -- thus my son's song "Laceless Converse":

· from Zappos
awesome (1) · funny (1) · informative · omgwtf
girlfriday Man I want me some of these. I am too lazy to tie!
amyuhrich Haha, awesome video! So you can actually buy these laceless, then - is the tongue anchored so that they stay on easily? Interesting. I love Converse hi-tops, myself (more flattering on my short legs).
