Andronico's Market
Finally found some European ham in the US. Andronico rocks.
· $34.83 credit card purchase
dive_philospher whats the difference between American ham and European ham? are they cured differently?
The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest
Boring to death compared to the prior 2.
· movie from Netflix
girlfriday So curious to see what the American ones are going to do ...
Century 20
Convinced Remy to go see No Strings Attached... loved it :-)
· $21.50 credit card purchase
productjoy was no strings attached pretty predictable? im still trying to wrap my head around the fact that natalie portman has done a rom-com!
fidjissimo Extremelyyyy predictable, but who cares when you leave with a smile? You don't really go see a rom com to be surprised - if the girl doesn't end up with the guy, a rom com pretty much sucks :-)
productjoy this is true =) nice to hear a good reivew, might drag the man to watch this with me for vday
MizzBlaze How was Ashton in this movie?
Zara
I love Zara, and I love how cheap it is in Europe. I bought an awesome red top.

awesome (1) · funny · informative (1) · omgwtf
girlfriday It's cheaper than in America? How much cheaper?!
fidjissimo Mmm, based on my empirical / non-scientific assessment, I'd say at least 20% cheaper... and a much larger selection in Europe for sure!
jacq i love love love zara. they need an online store! their sf locations have such a small selection. :/
TV Advertising: Business, Technology, and Systems by Misty Campbell
Wanted to learn more about TV advertising, but this book is just an endless list of definitions, with no insights at all.
· $29.99 book from Amazon
girlfriday It sounded a lot cooler than that! Thanks for the heads up.
Kinky
My favorite baby clothing boutique in the South of France. I bought a Burberry dress for my goddaughter, she looks adorable in it.
· $124.20 credit card purchase
girlfriday Awwwwww!
amyuhrich That's freaking adorable. I have to ask though, especially for the price...has she outgrown it already?
Time Shop Fr
Bought a very nice bracelet for Remy.

When in Rome
I went to Rome over the holidays so I had to see that movie (yeah, couldn't find a better excuse) and as expected it did suck but I love both actors, so what can I say...
· movie from Netflix
girlfriday Good actors can get you through the worst of movie stories. :)
Hotel IQ Roma
Everything about this hotel is great, except the most important thing: the mattress. This was by far the firmest mattress I've seen, and sleeping on the floor was almost more enjoyable. They also had a small couch in the room, and I had to sleep on the couch for 4 nights. Add that to a bad jetlag, and you can imagine how full of energy I was in Rome.

Ristorante Babette Roma
This restaurant was unbelievable. What was also unbelievable was the the stomachache I got a couple of hours later. Maybe eating tomato rice + turkey with olive oil + pork with mustard sauce + pasta napolitana + polenta with gorgonzola + pizza wasn't such a good idea. And yes, they had a buffet, I didn't just order 10 different meals (I wouldn't put it past me though).

Lufthansa Launcher App
In order to track Remy's flight back to the US. Perfect for my total paranoia, thought it doesn't have a live flight map.

Ristorante La Rosetta
Amazing sea food restaurant in a tiny street of Rome. Super expensive, but worth it. I had the turbot with saffron and nuts (unbelievable) and Remy had the pasta with lobster. We got the chocolate dessert which is composed of a chocolate mousse, chocolate ice cream, a chocolate creme brulee, a chocolate brownie and a chocolate macaroon... That was chocolate heaven :-)
And the service is simply impeccable.
· $160.66 credit card purchase
riddlefish Mmmmm... I approve of how many times you wrote the word "chocolate" in your review. Nicely done. Did you have after dinner coffee? That was my favorite part of Italian culture. :D
girlfriday That dessert sounds INSANE. Chocolate moussseeeeeeee!
Ufficio Scavi Citta Del Vat It
Tour of the Necropolis under the St Peter's Basilica in Vatican City. You can see the tomb and the relics of St Peter, it's just unbelievable. Only 100 people are allowed in the necropolis every day so you need to get tickets well in advance. And of course, they don't have a nice online booking tool, so you need to email back and forth with the Ufficio Scavi to make sure you get on that tour. You can choose a tour in English - our guide was great. This is the highlight of our trip to Rome so far (only 2 more days left!).
· $33.77 credit card purchase
awesome (4) · funny (1) · informative (2) · omgwtf
fidjissimo @heiditron $33 is actually for 2 people! Really cheap for what it is.
dive_philospher what else are you planning on seeing?
fidjissimo @dive_philospher all the usual "things to see"... we've visited the Vatican (and attended the General audience with the Pope this morning), the Castel Sant Angelo, the Coliseum, the countless fountains, the Spanish steps... And today we went to a very disturbing place called the Cappuchin Crypt where the skeletons of 4,000 monks are used as decorations! It's not supposed to be morbid, but when you have 4,000 skulls looking at you, how could it not be? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capuchin_Crypt
dive_philospher woah. that's pretty cool! i might have to adjust my intinery and fit in rome on my next trip!
fidjissimo @dive_philospher it's an amazing city indeed! If you do go there, ping me: I have really good restaurant and ice cream recommendations, but unfortunately a lot of those places only accept cash so I can't review them on Blippy :-(
amyuhrich Sounds like I need to go to Rome. Who DOESN'T want to have skeletons staring at them?
Lufthansa
After having our British Airways flight to London cancelled because of the snow, we had to find last minute tickets to Europe. We made it home on time for Xmas, but had to stop in Munich and Barcelona before arriving in France.
· $1,574.32 credit card purchase
gkruis Life is hard for international jetsetters.
riddlefish Gotta love Lufthansa! Although the last time I used that airline we were stuck in the plane on a runway in Frankfurt for two hours in the middle of summer with no air conditioning... Did your experience go well at least? (Besides the flight cancellations?)
SemtexGirl That quite roundabout.
Tgi's Sushi
Their sushis are MASSIVE. Like BIG. Try the salmon skin roll if you like things that are very fishy (fishy as in "smells a lot like fish", not as in shady business).
· $52.47 credit card purchase
Sports Authority
I participated in one of those "buy gifts for underprivileged children for Xmas" campaigns, and I picked a kid who wanted a football helmet. I just wanted a real American gift because there is no chance I will ever offer a football helmet to anyone in my family (yes, we play soccer in Europe people). I thought it would be the easiest thing to find: I went to 5 different stores up and down the Peninsula and didn't find a single football helmet!!! I ended up having to offer a gift card instead, which is lame. Fail.
· $51.84 credit card purchase
Juicy
A lot of people from my family in France want gifts from US brands that they can't find in France... so Juicy Couture is my go-to place for holiday gifting. Bought my Mom a bag, and bought my cousins tracksuits.

The Shawshank Redemption: Special Edition
A lot of people in my team couldn't believe that I had never watched that movie, so I had to check it out. It's an amazing movie, can't believe I missed it all those years, especially since I love Morgan Freeman, and love all the prison-related movies.
· movie from Netflix
dive_philospher one of the best ever.
productjoy yeah, this movie is definitely a classic =)
gkruis Team? What team?
fidjissimo My team at work (i.e. colleagues).
riddlefish Dude, Morgan Freeman is in EVERYTHING. It's AMAZING. And I read once somewhere that "using voiceovers in movies usually doesn't work very well. Unless it's Morgan Freeman. Then it always works." Truer words have never been spoken.
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Loved it. Had to convince @remymiralles to watch it despite the subtitles but it was worth it.
· movie from Netflix
angellyfish Everyone has been telling me it's a great movie? I have to see this! :O
gkruis You seen the other ones?
fidjissimo I've seen the Girl who played with Fire - also very good but I actually preferred the first one.
gkruis I'd like to check them out. Have you read the books?
gkruis Good to know. I've considered reading them, but honestly something about their covers, or names, or press seemed cheesy to me. I'm glad to know they are good. Everybody is talking about them. Now I'm convinced.
KAYAK First Class Flight and Hotel Search App
Had to download that when I learnt that my flight to France got cancelled. This app told me that all the other flights were $9,000, so of course I don't like it.
