I'm an artist, which defines a lot about me. I have a love of Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and crude humor. Tasteless, I probably like it. Offensive, I probably love it.
Star Trek
Before I had seen this movie, I was very skeptical of a "new" Star Trek with the same characters, different actors before their stories began. I've been a Star Trek fan since I was a kid. TNG was my Star Trek, and my Mom loved old school. But I loved this movie, they made a gateway to an alternate series of movies. Really, they have re-written the entire saga, and did so in a way that wasn't hokey or anything. A great way to introduce the series to a younger generation of neo-trekkies. And I loved the performances of every actor, they were true to the characters and I adored them more than ever. I have watched this movie over and over now, really, why haven't I bought it yet to own?

girlfriday New Spock makes me happy happy.
Ink
Wow, this was an awesome tale. At first, I was thinking "WTF, Goth dream ninjas said what?" But it really enfolds into a very heartwarming story with an odd sort of twist, though I surmised the plot early than I would have liked, they played off it quite lovely. If you enjoyed What Dreams May Come, and Repo: Genetic Opera, then you may well enjoy this. Not as dark and morbid as the Repo, but not as gentle and light as What Dreams... A bizarre and fun story. Just enjoy it for what it is.

beverlynoelle I just added this to my queue...sounds awesome!

My boyfriend says this show makes him almost cry, and that I should watch it.

- Pt 1
I love V, the original and the new. It's corny and completely 80's with the clothes and the dialog and bad effects. The books are the same, word for word. But I love the story. And growing up watching it it was one of my favorites, which makes it a classic to me.

If you're new to V and have seen the new show and love it, then definitely check out the original mini-series to see where it all is coming from. Especially before next season, as Diana (Jane Badler) is supposed to be making a come back as Anna's mom! How awesome is that!?

Already a fan of V? Watch it again, see what details you've forgotten in the umpteen million years since then. Just remember to forgive the giant iguana and that the make up in this show was top notch back then. Peeling away human skin to reveal reptilian aliens... Nothing like that had been done before. This was a breakthrough when it came to special fx with it's laser show brainwashing room while wearing nude colored leotards.... XD

- Door
I expected this to be really cool and weird. It was weird. Guys in a sewer carrying fluorescent lightbulbs, pursuing a girl who goes to bed in the middle of the pursuit and is surprized when one guy catches up to her, stabbing her arm and then he spontaneously explodes. Then she falls through a wall into the middle of the sidewalk, bleeding in front of a couple. The bf goes to assist her when the gf tells him if he helps her, then they're through. So he helps her... Yeah, I was completely uninterested by this point so sought some other way to waste my time.

Yesterday
I was expecting some sci-fi Bladerunneresque action packed Korean film. But I couldn't get into this. At all. I watched about 15 minutes maybe of non futuristic looking gizmos and a plot line which really didn't make sense. For one, when you're going into a hostage situation with guns blazing, do you expect the hostage to survive? And no one even shot back, though they were able to shoot down an electronic spy bee, the guys in camo were more stealthy than a bee. Why was the little boy a hostage in the first place, and why was there a whole platoon coming to rescue him and be the fail about it?
Tin Man
So far, I am really enjoying this twist on the Wizard of Oz. I wasn't ever really a Wizard of Oz fan, but this has a nice steampunk flair to it and much darker telling. I love the cast, they are all incredibly good, the parts are really long, and I haven't really had the time to sit and watch a full length show in a while. But I really am loving it.

- The Beast with a Billion Backs
OMG this was awesome. I love Cthulhu and tentacle humor is a riot to me. I was laughing my proverbial butt off watching this. Expect tons of innuendo as our entire universe is willingly tentacle mind-raped at the same time by the next universe over. I love Futurama and this is no exception, dirty humor abounds.

gillianivy Steven Hawkings laser eyes was the win!
lesayoh the fourth season is blowing me away. Also the new season is pretty good too
- Will You Tolerate This?
This seems a little over the top. But I found myself really enjoying it. I always loved the tale of Robin Hood, a classic. And the production value looks pretty good. I've only watched the first episode, but it looks like some good bit of nonsense fluff to watch when I want to fill my time with some bit of nothing.

Riverworld
After watching part 1, I'm still wondering whether or not I want to go on and watch part 2. Did I like this, was I compelled to watch more? WTH was going on? The show was a bit strange, I expected that. Nothing is really explained. I think it's some sort of purgatory where people from different times are constantly being reincarnated, but for what purpose? The whole first part leaves you with nothing but questions and a whole lot of not really knowing what is going on. It seems like it's going to be a story about a guy who is on a never ending quest to save his girlfriend. Maybe I have to watch Part 2 to find out....

jah The books, by Philip José Farmer aka Philip Joseph Farmer, are fantastic. I haven't seen the 2003 or 2010 movie, hm.
gillianivy Ah, didn't know it was a book. If I like the rest of the movie, I might have to see if I can find it at my library. Thanks.
- Turn Left
I loved "Turn Left" probably one of the coolest Donna episodes. I enjoyed the mysticism and the age old story of "what if?". Donna, who feels she couldn't possibly have any significance in the grand scale of things, the most important person in the world? One of the most integral episodes of the season.
· tv episode "Turn Left" from Netflix
gillianivy Yes, more like a giant beetle, allmost like a buggy backpack XD It was a great episode. Thanks for the comment/follow/awesome.
fnoo The best scene in Turn Left is that long single shot with Sylvia in the foreground. Donna enters the house in the distance, and the camera stays focused on Sylvia. Donna hedges for a while about trying to find a job, and Sylvia's face remains blank. She doesn't even move. Donna says, "I guess I always was a disappointment." And Sylvia simply says, "Yeah." She continues to stare into space.
- Planet of the Ood
I can't say that I've ever really liked the Ood, though this is certainly a better episode with them. Characterizing them as a creature of peace. I'll not give a spoiler, but I did find it to be an interesting facet of the Oods.
· tv episode "Planet of the Ood" from Netflix
- Blink
This is my favorite episode thusfar in the new Doctor Who series. Steven Moffat is a great writer, love his BBC seies Coupling. I've been a Doctor Who fan since I was a kid and this is no exception! The angels creeped me out and the story was fun. I wished it weren't so rushed when it came down to it, there was a lot of build up but the climax was too sudden. This episode didn't have much of the Doctor and Martha in it, but the story was grand.

Love Doctor Who. I have a lot of catching up to do.

Tower of Druaga: Part 2
The first episode of the first season was the most hilarious and entertaining anime I'd seen in a long time. So far, the rest of it has been just entertaining, still some funny episodes, but they really hooked us with the first. And it reallyhas some of my brand of humor.
