Pete's Tavern
A bustling sports bar near the Giants Stadium in SF. I got a delicious Western bacon burger and a couple of beers to wash it down. Oh, and the Lakers won!

Barnes & Noble
Purchased a book called "The Art of Talking to Anyone." Most of it is polite conversation etiquette and common sense, but there are some quite good tips for carrying a conversation with strangers.

beverlynoelle Are you a master conversationalist, now?
impulsebuyer I've only gotten through the first chapter. But I am a master listener now!
vote4brownie i work at b&n, you should check out some of their business etiquette books. hilarious.
Figaro Gelato
1 scoop of bubblegum ice cream, 1 scoop of cookie dough, and 1 scoop of cookies and cream. Yeah, I like cookies a lot.
· $6.45 credit card purchase
beverlynoelle I have never been a fan of bubblegum ice cream. I think it's because I eat it and I'm like OH GOD I'M GOING TO SWALLOW THIS AND CHOKE AND DIE because it is too gum-like for me :(
Primary Colors
This was a great political drama about a Governor running for president who has an almost uncontrollable penchant for chasing skirts. Much commotion ensues every time and his team of handlers and advisers jump through hoops to keep his philandering ways from scuttling his presidential ambitions. I read somewhere that Joe Klein of Time magazine wrote the screenplay as a fictionalized version of Bill Clinton's run for president in 1992. If true, Willy was doing some serious triflin' back in the day, yo.

chrismolnar nineties political movies rule... dave, bulworth, wag the dog, american president, even the first seasons of the west wing.
impulsebuyer @chrismolnar, I've been meaning to watch Wag the Dog, but I can't find it anywhere. Don't forget Air Force One with Harrison Ford!
chrismolnar yeah! i wish harrison ford did more iconic stuff like that these days.
gkruis @impulsebuyer you gotta track down wag the dog. there are some classic scenes in that flick.
girlfriday Remember when Harrison Ford WASN'T in movies like Morning Glory... sigh.
gkruis Remember when he was only in movies that made him a legend?
The Crepe House
A delightfully cozy and intimate house of Crepes in the heart of San Francisco's Nob Hill district. Satisfy your craving for meal or dessert crepes that appeal to any palate. I ordered a delicious dessert crepe of strawberries, brown sugar, whipped cream and vanilla ice cream. After the climax of the meal, I was glad I came.

porcupiny Sounds fancy!
saunieindiego Sounds so delicious! Wait, i just read that again, and that's pretty provocative.
beverlynoelle Yeah, that review sounds...uhh...somebody REALLY likes crepes.
porcupiny That is pretty funny...
porcupiny There's a Crepevine across from my brother's apartment. I've only been there once, but I did enjoy the crepes. Probably not as much as impulsebuyer liked The Crepe House...
impulsebuyer Lol @everyone. Okay, so I may have gone a little overboard, but it was a very sensual experience. I'm thinking about writing a trashy romance novel about it.
Client 9: Rise and Fall of Eliot Spitzer
Fans of political intrigue, scandal, and high end prostitution rings: This is the movie for you. This documentary covers the rise and fall of a promising young governor who will always be remembered as Client 9.
chrismolnar looks pretty interesting!
Yellow Cab
One of three cab experiences I procured whilst out on an epic albeit expensive night on the town. San Francisco nightlife/clubbing scene is no joke!
· $13.30 credit card purchase
chrismolnar the clubs are that spread out? i guess every town has their own nightlife quirks.
saunieindiego You should come to San Diego. Downtown is THE club scene here, and all the good clubs are within walking distance of each other!
impulsebuyer Let me not denigrate the SF nightlife too much. This experience was entirely my fault as I chose to hop around to clubs that were on the opposite ends of the city. Although I do like the scene down in San Diego, @shewalksdogs :)
Pizza Orgasmica & Brewing Company
Everybody's favorite late night pizza stop! I say everybody because the line had everyone in the city in it. Literally. Oh yeah the pizza? Orgasmica.

chrismolnar i'm always in disbelief that they're actually called that... but it's so good.

Sour No sauce?
impulsebuyer I got 2x the buffalo sauce. I like my mouth on fire.
girlfriday @impulsebuyer -- Be glad you could the 2x! I tried to get double sauce... and my Subway wouldn't fork it over. Cheap punks.
Sour Wow, you guys are intense. When I get the buffalo chicken I have to have it drowned in ranch so it's not too spicy for me.
Family Billiards
Who doesn't love a good game of pool? I don't! Actually let me not lie too much, I usually do. But on this occasion I went out for a game with a group of friends and we paired up into teams of two, while agreeing that the losing team would pay the cost of the game for the winners. Can you guess what happened next? All I have to say is thanks a lot @dive_philospher. SMH

Grown Ups
After reading positive reviews about this here on Blippy, I decided to check it out. I must say, my expectations were not sky high here, and rightfully so. It was just ok, as a movie. There is a star studded cast with occasional chuckles sprinkled throughout, but for the most part I felt as if I had seen it before, or at least the type of movie it aspired to be. While some of your favorite comedians may be involved, none of them can claim their best work in this movie. Proceed with caution if bored.

impulsebuyer What a coincidence... I want to be with Salma Hayek now.
Black Snake Moan
I had to watch this again. An excellent film, taking place in the rural South in the Post-Vietnam War era. It features a young girl with a troubled past of sexual abuse and her tremendous struggle to overcome certain uncontrollable urges (sex, and lots of it) with strangers. After a particularly violent occurrence, she is left for dead by the wayside and taken in by a kindhearted yet emotionally vulnerable farmer and nursed back to health and sanity. Oh and Justin Timberlake is in it too.

beverlynoelle I didn't hear much about this one, but doesn't it have Christina Ricci?
impulsebuyer Yeah she's definitely the lead in this one. Does a damn good job too.
beverlynoelle @heiditron Does she call you up when she finishes projects? Because that would be PRETTY AWESOME, can't lie!
Death at a Funeral
A hilarious movie with a star-studded cast. The premise of the movie is the death of the main character (Chris Rock)'s father and the funeral where the the rest of the family and friends show up to pay their respects. Tracy Morgan, Martin Lawrence, Luke Wilson, Danny Glover, Kevin Hart, to name a few, are some of the bigger names of the cast. The funeral for their father turns out to be a complete fiasco in which almost nothing goes as planned. The movie is a comedic treat best enjoyed with friends or loved ones.

productjoy this movie was def enjoyable, sorta like your boys recent hair cut. ya digggg =)
impulsebuyer lol @productjoy... I'm glad you enjoyed my work this time.
beverlynoelle I really loved this movie. Did you see the original? I didn't, but I hear they're pretty similar..?
John Q
You've heard of Denzel and how his movies never fail to draw you in. In John Q, we see Denzel in his defining masterpiece, he plays John Archibald, a working class father with a son who is suddenly sidelined from a little league baseball game when he suddenly collapsed. After being rushed to the hospital John and his wife find out that their son will need an impossibly expensive heart transplant that is not covered by their health insurance. The film portrays Archibald's struggle to rescue his son, refusing to take no for an answer and taking prisoners, literally. John Q is a heart-wrenching movie that makes even the coldest of us feel his predicament

American Psycho
We meet Patrick Bateman, a sadistic, self-absorbed, wildly successful, young executive on Wall Street. Upon first examination Patrick appears to have everything one could want, fast car, women, money, but as the movie goes on we find that he is a twisted individual with murder on his mind. The movie does well to draw us in as an audience with plenty of gore for those of us that enjoy carnage. Christian Bale does a superb job as Patrick Bateman in an unforgettable performance that may haunt the dreams of some

fnoo @iamphilsharp Yeah, it's social satire -- the sort of thing that would pass over a twelve-year-old's head. When you're on the right wavelength, it's pretty hilarious stuff.
girlfriday I could not love this movie any more than I already do. I must see it again. It's much funnier than it gets credit for.
gkruis The scene where reviews Huey Louis and the News is amazing. If only I could review on Blippy with such panache and visceral chutzpah...
impulsebuyer I think you do alright for yourself @gkruis. I certainly find your reviews illuminating.
gkruis Thank you, @impulsebuyer I'm flattered.
MizzBlaze @impulsebuyer Have you ever read the book?
Zach Galifianakis
We all know him as that guy from The Hangover, and with good reason, he was easily the funniest member of the cast. In the special we are presented with his hilarious antics. After watching I resolved to follow Zach in his further movie exploits

riddlefish Lol. Not all of his stuff hits for me, but I love his piano-accumpanied monologues. Did you see him on SNL?
jacq does this have his twin brother seth in it?
impulsebuyer lol yes. I find him to be hilarious, and couldn't tell if it was really his twin brother or just him without facial hair.
gkruis Yeah, Seth's the best. Watching the special features of that DVD. His show on VH1 back in early 2000s was pretty hilarious, as I remember it.
gkruis I watched the first 2 epis of that show and didn't like it. Schwartzman got on my nerves, which isn't usually the case with him.
rebecca_logan did you see his live at the purple onion?
Dog the Bounty Hunter
An exciting adventurous show where the action never ends. With his blonde ponytail wagging, we meet Dog, a bounty hunter with a fearsome reputation. As a family business, Dog catches fugitives who have refused to show up for their court date after posting bail. The setting is most frequently the Hawaiian islands, although sometimes Dog and his family make special trips to the continental US to pursue special fugitives. Everything about the show draws us in from beginning to end, from the country backroad vernacular to their rough and tumble methods for apprehending suspects. We are also given insight into Dog's twisted family life, as they sometimes interject personal anecdotes into the episodes. I challenge you to watch just a single show and not be absolutely enthralled.

More Than a Game
In-depth, behind the scenes look at Lebron James as a young man, from his time as a boy growing up as the son of a working class mother in Akron,Ohio. The film is essentially a documentary of James' rise to fame in the NBA, it features interviews with close friends as well as James himself. The film includes footage from his high school career as well as from the NBA. An excellent view into King James ascent to the throne, also shows his resilience to public scorn as we are shown a scenario with him and his high school teammates being hated by their schoolmates at a private catholic high school. Great pick for lebron fans.
Brothers
Excellent, albeit slept-on movie. Tobey, Natalie and Jake all do their thing (yes we are on first name basis). In summation, a husband/father/soldier ships out to Afghanistan where he is captured by the Taliban and left for dead. Back home, his wife and family try to put the pieces of their lives back together and his brother strikes up an intimate relationship with his widow. All hell breaks loose when the soldier returns home, with severe PTSD and suspects the worst between his wife and brother. Thrilling drama ensues.

Kyson When I young, I used to take walk past this movie at Blockbuster over and over to take small peaks at the movie. My parents must have been wondering why I was spending so much time in the "S" section ;)
