MessageParty App
Not useful yet, but we'll see if MessageParty can gain some traction and users. If I could chat with people around me, I can see it being fun, but no users yet. Limited app, but it's a version 1 right?
lesayoh hmm seems promising. it could go either way
jpgallo yeah, we'll see...hmm..not sure how they're going to get a play for users, but it would be cool if I could create a chat room for the area I live in, and be able to talk to people in my area if something is going on. That would be interesting... :)
Tiki Towers for iPad App
Monkeys are cool, but this game isn't. Building towers and watching the monkeys jump across doesn't do it for me :) I'll give it another shot though, I abandon ship a bit early.

jpgallo yeah, it was definitely anticlimactic. The initial screenshots, and the graphics made it look fun. I think the developers knew that the trailer was better then the movie so mark it up. Ah well :)
Twittelator Free App
Clean Twitter client for the iPad. It feels like there are is a lot of wasted space because the design uses floated windows, but overall I think this is one of the better Twitter clients on the iPad as of this review (Sept/10). It seems to have most functionality built in, and navigating around is easy enough. Definitely good enough for now! I switch back between this and Tweetdeck on the iPad. I'm sure better clients will surface soon though (or these will improve).
Gowalla App
Really nice app. There's no question that Gowalla has a beautiful product, but this isn't enough for me to switch over from 4sq.
· app from iTunes
EktorOni What would it take for you to switch? I did two months ago and I haven't looked back. :)
jpgallo lol, I'm not sure actually. I used both for a while. I think it's too late. All of my network is on foursquare, and they have a larger set of venues. I love Gowalla's icons though :) Perhaps if they focused on their Trips, and made some cool guides I could follow while travelling, I would use that?
EktorOni There are already some very cool Trips in place, "official" and user-generated. What makes Gowalla for me are the "Featured Spots" and them having their very own custom stamp. So awesome. :D
jpgallo @EktorOni I agree, however, I live in Toronto, Canada and there aren't that many trips around here atm. All of Gowalla's icons are really quite amazing. I think it's one of their biggest assets actually. It's something that I would event want printed in some sort real-life passport that you could purchase off Gowalla's site that could document your visits + photos + blurbs. That's something that would entice me to use the service more :)
jpgallo @jason love blippy & gowalla! Can't get away from my network on 4SQ. Really want to come bk to Gowalla tho.. I feel like the trip stuff could be expanded. I would love to see "experts" of an area, and follow their activity and be able to "tell me more" like Blippy. I would like to use it as a travel tool. Marking off places as ToDo would be great as well. Group events can be planned with ppl who want to todo a place, and some sort groupon like deal could be offered to those people :)
PAC-MAN for iPad App
I like pacman, but this version seems a bit crappy. The graphics can definitely be improved and the controls don't seem very responsive at times....

Osmos App
Fun game. I haven't played anything like this before. At first the app was pure eye candy, but it's actually a lot of fun and can be quite challenging. You push around this ball of matter by tapping around it, and you have to consume smaller parts of manner and avoid the larger ones. Everytime you combine with smaller parts, you grow, and everytime you move around you use lose matter. Just play it you'll see ;) Getting used to the gravity, and the physics of controlling the game can take a little of time, but you'll catch on quickly.

EktorOni Osmos is spectacular, specially on iPad. :D
jpgallo It's great. Is it an old game or something on other platforms? I'm not a big gamer so I don't know...
EktorOni No, it was specially made for the iPad first, then the iPhone version came. Both are great. :)
Dodocase Inc.
I think I can't wait until this arrives. Shipping has been slow because they're in high demand, but as soon as it comes I'll write up a review :)

MLB.com At Bat 2010 App
I used to watch baseball, but my team (Toronto Blue Jays) have been sucking for the past....well...long time. Anyways, I do occasionally flip to the game, but now I'll just open up At Bat 2010. It's a really well designed app. If you love stats, and watching play by play this app has it all. Video highlights, complete player profiles, live audio and video.....Every sports league should have an app like this. Really cool.
Inkling App
Such an amazing app. This is going to change the textbook industry. I really hope schools adopt this, and do it soon. The Inkling platform is still new, but once it gets a slew of textbooks, and users to follow Inkling will rule. (you can follow students/profs and see the notes they're writing on a book). Besides the amazing utility Inkling provides, the app is also beautiful and a joy to use.

Zipcar App
Pretty cool app to find, reserve and unlock your zipcar! However, after using Zipcar a few times now, I find that some cars aren't listed in the iPhone app, but they are listed on the Zipcar website. Not knowing that caused a few problems....
FlightTrack Pro – Live TripIt Flight Status Tracker App
FlightTrackPro is built on top of TripIt for those who don't know. TripIt + FlickTrack are awesome. TripIt automatically registers your flight receipts, and they magically appear in FlighTrack. The Pro version gives you useful and seemingly accurate push alerts as well like Gate changes, dealys etc. I definitely recommend the duo (TripIt/FlightTrack) if you travel a fair amount. Worth the $. What's the difference between the different version of FlightTrack? I don't really know I just always buy the best version. Slap HD, Pro, Plus at the end, and I'll buy it.

Gist App
Great service, but lackluster iPhone app, and....luckluster review! When they update their iPhone app, I'll update my review.
Local News by Fwix App
I'm a fan of Fwix, but I don't use their app much yet. The app is decent though giving you your local news in a feed like format.
Silentale for iPhone App
Good concept, I was actually thinking of making an app like this that consolidates all your contacts. The iPhone app is extremely sub par still, hopefully they can improve it. Lots of potential.
Reeder App
Most people seem to like this app, but I didn't get around to jumping on the bandwagon. It works well, and it's fluid, but I don't like the design of it. That's not to say that it's not a well designed app, I just personally prefer something that has a cleaner/iOS look & feel to the app. The brown/wood feel is weird to me for a text based app. I don't want to feel like I'm reading a 20 year old news paper. Oh yeah, and I kinda fell out of love with RSS. RSS seriously?

I don't have any other recommendations for RSS Readers for the iPhone because I....don't...use RSS readers. RSS kinda sucks. My iPad is glued to my hip and I ingest my news via FlipBoard as of late.
fnoo Is it that you've found a better alternative to RSS, or just that you're no longer bothered with news feeds?
jpgallo Sure my alternative is to subscribe to the sources I want news from on my Twitter , and Facebook account. Whenever I'm in Facebook I have a list of all my news sources ie (HuffingtonPost, Techrunch, etc), and I get my news right in my feed, or I just flip through my Twitter account. A great way to read these streams is with an iPad app called Flipboard (if you have an iPad), which turns it into a magazine-like format. http://www.flipboard.com/ -- That's my preference at the moment!
Things App
Really $9.99? Nice app, but haven't integrated into my life yet. I'm a big fan of clean, and well designed apps that don't stray to far away from the look & feel of the iOS. However, the thing with me is I sign up for so many damn services I can't keep up. My goal is to make Evernote + Google the core of my communication hub. In saying that, I would really want Things to sync with either or both of those somehow. I can't afford another data silo for a simple todo list. Talk with Evernote Things, and I will be your biggest fan. I don't see that happening though :<

GoodReader for iPad App
I downloaded this initially having no immediate use for it. At first the green logo threw me. I hate green logos. Then....something happened. I needed to access some attachments from my Gmail account, some files from my Dropbox, and for the sake of wanting to test the app, I also added my Google Docs account. GoodReader consolidated all my files from the sources I added, and I was able to download the files I needed quickly and store for them for my rapidly impending meeting. Great! It works. Maybe green logos aren't so bad after all.

The app is well designed, and my first experience with it was very super amazing. I'm a developer and a techie so my standards are usually high, and this app has met them so far.

One thing I noticed while testing was that when I was viewing my photos on Dropbox there wasn't a gallery view of my pictures. Not that I would necessarily need this, but that would be a good addition to the app to round it out.

Over and out.

Words With Friends HD App
Multiplayer mode is fun with a friend. Good thing about this game is that you can leave it running all day long and play at your own pace. I get alerts during the day when the person I'm playing with fills in a word, then I'll go when I'm good + ready!

impulsebuyer what are some of the pros of the HD paid version? I have the regular version and it seems perfect to me
jpgallo I wouldn't be able to tell you in detail. I just started playing it (this is the iPad version I reviewed). It looks like the iPad doesn't have the free version, and I checked on my iPhone and it looks like the only difference between free vs HD is the ADs based on what it says in the description. So yeah, they seem the same!
impulsebuyer good to know. I guess I'll be sticking with the free version, thank you.
jpgallo Cool. Ads suck though :) They should have sponsored tiles from brands. That would be cool.
HuffingtonPost.com App
I love the Huffington Post. I'm on it everyday. On the web that is. This app essentially copies the websites design in a simplified format. It strips a lot of the sidebars, and makes the comments bigger on each article. Personally, I prefer just adding a bookmark to the Huffington Post website as it's a lot more detailed then this app. If you like reading the comments, this app might be for you as it formats them a little larger and cleaner.

Another good way to ingest the Huffington Post is to subscribe to their Twitter accounts using the FlipBoard app :) That's my preference!
