gps4cam App
This app is just brilliant. I took my new Canon 7D out for a spin around Hyde Park yesterday and wanted to track my movements. gps4cam did an amazing job. You literally just open the app when you want it to start recording your whereabouts and it'll take a GPS reading every 5 minutes (or more/less frequently if preferred). The app runs in the background and had only a slight noticeable effect on the battery life.

At the end of your trip, you simply tap Export and it'll display a barcode which you snap using your digital camera. The idea being that one of the images on your memory card has the barcode shown, which is then picked up by the desktop app. The desktop app (Mac & PC) scans through the images, gets the location data from the detected barcode, matches up the time each shot was taken with your corresponding coordinates and voila! your images are tagged!

Brilliant if you ask me. Here's a quick screenshot from within Aperture using the Places feature: http://cl.ly/2P1u2g1y310w3n2z2T2J from this trip: http://www.flickr.com/photos/lcooperdesign/sets/72157625581556748/

Even if you don't use Aperture or iPhoto you can see from my Flickr page how the site picks up on the coordinates too. Awesome.

The only downside for me so far is the time it takes the desktop app to scan through and detect the barcode shot. Seeing as it's likely to always be the last shot I take I think it should find it quicker or give me the option to specify. I'm sure this is something that'll improve with time however.

All in all this is a highly recommended app!

bestfriend I might just check this one out!
lewiscooper Yeah cool, it's really simple but works great.
lewiscooper Shots taken with the iPhone 4 are tagged with geo location data provided you have GPS on. However this is really for shots taken with another camera like a compact or dSLR.
lesayoh this would be good for photo journalists
TextExpander App
I've yet to use this once. I'm sure it could be handy at some point but I don't tend to repeat myself all too often.
foursquare App
It is what it is. If you're on Foursquare, this app makes things faster and easier.
Foodspotting App
Great idea. Nicely styled app too.
riddlefish Is this like the location-based equivalent of foodgawker.com?
FileChute App
Much prefer dropbox app.
Touchgrind App
Very fun game. Although quite difficult.
iPoodThai App
Very handy. Good that you can hear the pronunciation!

riddlefish The title is informative, but not in the way I wanted. ;p
TouchPad App
No need for a Magic TrackPad with this bad-boy!
TripAdvisor Hotels Flights Restaurants App
A good app, but offers very little if not less than their mobile version of the site.
Racing Post App
Very handy when at the races. Which for me is once a year. I'd still recommend though.
GarageBuy App
Quite good but the eBay app is getting better on every release.
Ocarina App
Bought it, used it once, was very impressed. Never launched it again.
VLC Media Player App
More variety is always a good thing!
Official Relentless Freeze App 2010
Handy, but no retina display and too expensive for what it is, considering you'll probably be able to pick up a paper equivalent at the event.

Archetype App
Very good. Controls take some getting used to though! Especially inverted gyroscope controls.
iBasket Free App
short-lived fun
Yahoo! Messenger App
Great that you can use your iPhone for video calling to non macs. Although FaceTime for mac is better if you do own a mac.
Belkin Fast Fit Sports Armband for iPhone 4
I really like it so far, very well made. Only down side is that it will not keep your phone dry if it rains.

1Password Pro App
I highly recommend this app, but mainly as a companion to the desktop version on the mac. There is also a Windows version in beta which promises to be every bit as good as the mac version. I mainly use this to look up passwords, pins and other private info whilst out and about.

So far the developers seem to be very hot on the development side of things and there are frequent bug fixes and feature additions which demonstrates their commitment to your purchase.
