Mike Little

The Village Barbershop
hey it takes place in Reno... one of the first scenes is about a funeral...and you get a cloyingly cute lil indie flick that could with a bleak semi-dark suburban edge. Stars the guy that played Cliff the Postman on Cheers...and some younger not quite a name brand brunette actress that I don't recall the name of...
Sinatra
it's Frank Sinatra's world & we just live in it...
· tv season from Netflix
Crips and Bloods: Made in America
the same guy that produced the skateboarder doc classic Dogtown & Z Boyz...runs the history of South Central gangs through his filter...was better and more sociologically informative than I anticipated...
Hall & Oates: Our Kind of Soul
don't tell anybody... but i was kinda digging this... the moustache guy & his buddy covering lotsa soul oldies...and pretty much not sucking
· tv season from Netflix
$5 a Day
I never heard of this fine lil' indie father, son road trip flick, with lots & lotsa eccentric Christopher Walken as a mysterious bad dad... bonus cougar cameo from Sharon Stone ... and the other guy wasn't bad either...he looked familiar, but like I give a flick...I say stream it when ya get a chance
Grease Sing-A-Long
went to a Grease movie singalong with 18,000 of my closest friends at the Hollywood Bowl last month...love that venue.. you can bring your own food & booze...and we dressed up & they let us onstage to meet some cast members... shweeet
What's on Your Plate?
you don't want to know probably
The Front Page
Matthau - Lemmon... it's old school & good...it's so old school it's about newspapers... and shitty bosses, corrupt Chicago politics... and gambling & hookers & the death penalty... simply the best themes...
Bones and Fifes - Amber Cascades
this was some cool easy listening instrumental crap I downloaded...and it's a lot better than most of the bands I hear lately ...especially the ones auto tuning all over the radio
· song "Black Is Black" from Amazon
Freelance Whales - Hannah
this track has nothing to do with Hannah Montana... I'm pretty sure anyhow...it's by one of those cutesy indie rock bands from NYC who use glockenspiel ...from their 2009 album Weathervanes
Fishbone - Everyday Sunshine
Classic...gotta support the bone...
My Morning Jacket - You make me wonder (Beats 4 U Mix)
Yumpin Yimminy...I always loves me some My Morning Jacket
· song "It Beats 4 U" from iTunes
The End of America
panicky liberal infomercial warning people about the declining freedoms, and unreasonable authoritarian era we were living in under the Bush admin. It seemed designed to get people to vote for Obama...and guess what...they did and it's exactly the same under the Democratic prez...Patriot Act, War Without Congressional Oversight, Guantanamo, Torture, Homeland Insecurity etc
Class Actress - Journal of Ardency
this track is basically a 21st century reworking of Visage's 80's dancefloor fave Fade To Grey...but with different lyrics and sung by a chick...
Matt & Kim - Sidewalks
more electro pop from everyone's fave husband & wife electro pop duo... their music is like if the White Stripes were influenced by Soft Cell not The Standells & could hold day jobs & weren't total train wrecks
· song "Block After Block" from iTunes
Theophilus London - Lovers Holiday - EP
palatable dance orientated indie Hip-Hop artist outta NYC that seems more influenced by 80's beats & UK electro pop ala Spandau Ballet/Duran Duran than Gangsta swagga jerk-offs like Jay-Z and Biggie Smalls
· song "Why Even Try (feat. Sara Quin)" from iTunes
White Rabbits - Percussion Gun
erstwhile east coast indie rawk rerouted from the midwest...friends of that dude of "Beirut"...yadda yadda...
Endless Boogie - New Pair Of Shoes
Endless Boogie is dirt head music of recent vintage...and the blippy iTunes tween cover pic inserted here has again nothing to do with these greasy long form psychedelic smoke & sassafras rawkers from NYC...this fluid groove track is from the album Full House Head and reminds me of Beefheart battling Jon Spencer
· song "New Pair of Shoes" from iTunes
Suckers - Black Sheep
despite the iTunes cover art saying this is from Hip-Hop's Golden Age...nothing could be further from the truth... this is just more of that pained indie rock by disgruntled angsty white folks (i.e hipsters) who pay quite a bit too much money to live in NYC...
Cold Cave - The Great Pan Is Dead
Dark Wave Synth Goth Pop whatever music for white folks from Heartworm Press editor Wesley Eisold, apparently Matt Groening of all people is a fan...go figger
