The Machinist
Awesome movie,
· movie from Netflix
fnoo The tone is so very ominous. From the first scene I kept waiting for something horrible to happen.
chrismolnar christian bale's physique is that horrible, and it never stops happening!
girlfriday Bale is incredible in everything...
impulsebuyer I have this in my queue but I haven't seen it yet. What is it about, generally?
fnoo Dude who can't sleep and becomes emaciated from stress keeps seeing a guy who may or may not exist. As far as plot goes, take equal parts Memento, A Beautiful Mind, and Fight Club. As far as style and tone, think of David Lynch.
Threadless App
Threadless is amazing.
Weird Science
If you are or were a nerd in any life, you will enjoy this movie.

fnoo The show is actually much better than the movie -- sort of a Buffy effect, if an incomplete one.
lukepnnngtn I've actually never seen the TV show, I'll have to check it out!
girlfriday Anthony Michael Halllll! How great was he?!
bestfriend I was never a nerd. Maybe a geek. Will I still like it?
MizzBlaze I always liked this movie. I'm surprised they haven't tried to remake it yet
lukepnnngtn @bestfriend Sure! I think most people would like it.

Step Up 2 the Streets
If you enjoy watching people dance, this is a great movie to watch. Acting and plot is meh, but the great dancing does help you forgive these flaws.
Dance Flick
HORRIBLE. I stopped watching 2 minutes in, it was that bad.
· movie from Netflix
Fight Club
This is a very interesting and philosphical movie that really makes you think about life in general. Don't be confused by the title, this is not a "let's watch people knock each other out" movie. You will leave thinking.

JimmyA562 I'm not allowed to talk about it.
gkruis This definitely blew my 14 year old mind when I saw it first. I think, actually, it might have been this movie that made me truly fall in love with film. It pushed the limits of everything I'd seen before.
gkruis That or when I saw 2001 when I was a kid. 'Great Escape,' and 'Lawrence of Arabia,' too. But this definitely got me for good.
amyuhrich @gkruis I might have to agree with you there...this one really helped jump-start my film quest. Along with Donnie Darko, probably.
girlfriday There are so many great scenes in this flick. I love love love the final scene.
gkruis Pixies!
Bunny Shorts
Bunnies making funny videos, what could be better?

Michael Jackson's This Is It
This just has so many great porformances, and great behind-the-scenes stuff, that any fan of Micheal Jackson or of music in general should check this out.
· movie from Netflix
Catfish
The ads lied to me. The made it seem like this was going to be some crazy person with a chainsaw was coming after him, but really nothing happend. Someone who he had a love intrest with on the internet turned out not to be who he thought... that's about as interesting as the story goes. Don't expect this to be a thiller, it's a very documentary-like that you would have watched in high school. (and fall asleep doing so.)
· movie from Netflix
Saw VI
It's a fun waste brainer, but don't expect anything outside of a few guts flying around anywhere. What makes this sort-of interesting is the fact that they try to incorportate the medical industry into this, making it a bit more interesting to anyone who is into polotics. It is however, kind of gory, so make sure you know what you are getting into before you watch it.
· tv season from Netflix
· $1.29 song "Vitamin R (Leading Us Along)" from iTunes
Trauma Center: New Blood
Fun game, though slightly difficult
· $14.99 from Amazon
fnoo Sorta! The DS version is played entirely with the stylus -- and the stylus is a scalpel. You slice up patients, cut out tumors, tweeze them away, apply antiseptic gels, and sew the wounds. And then later you get all kinds of supernatural stuff -- like, patients have ghosts in them and you need to use magical powers to... never mind. You get the idea. The Wii version is similar, but with the stylus action translated into wiimote action. So you also get to do stuff like defibrillate.
gkruis Sounds gross and engrossing. That ghost stuff is real? Cause that definitely would step it up a notch in my book from real to quirky, and then I might be able to get into it.
fnoo Yeah, it starts off kind of intense and semi-realistic (with a few shortcuts that it explains away by setting the game a few years in the future), then gets steadily weirder as it goes along. I even like the naming scheme. The first sequel is called "Second Opinion"; the third game is "New Blood".

lukepnnngtn I haven't played the DS version (I never really got into handheld games) but the Wii versions are extreamly fun, but it can get fustrating. It's basically a sci-fi/ medical drama morphed together in a way.
gkruis Nice. Sounds fun.
fnoo Yeah, handheld games have a different sort of psychology. It's more like you're reading a book. Different kinds of games for different frames of mind; you know how it is.

Back to Trauma Center, the meat of the game is framed by sort of Japanese-style adventure game -- you know, like a dating sim. Portraits of characters stand there and spout text while you choose responses. Those segments are generally pretty short, but they're significant enough.
