Instagram App
A cool, free alternative to Hipstamatic, allowing you to turn your iphone pics into vintage-style snapshots. The main advantage this app has over instamatic, aside from being free (which is of course huge) is that you can apply the effects after you take the shot.
fnoo what are some of your favorite effects?
Zillow Real Estate App
Great app for quickly determining (residential) real estate prices and what's on the market. Cool maps integration.

beverlynoelle Looking for a new house? :)
nmordo Let's just say aspiring to be looking for a new house...
Windowshop App
Very cool and innovative graphical interface for browsing Amazon's product catalog. To me, this free app is worth downloading if for nothing else than interacting with it -- it really takes advantage of the tablet format to let you browse the catalog of items in a powerful way.

impulsebuyer good to know, I'll check it out
Doodle Jump App
Very basic game concept that turns out to be pretty fun...for a little while. The game basically involved tilting the iphone/ipad to navigate up a series of platforms while collecting boosts and dodging traps and enemies. That's pretty much it. The core innovation is the use of tilting as a gameplay mechanic.

Also, my friend's 2 year old apparently likes to play. So there's that.
Netflix App
Awesome. With the recent addition of on-demand streaming of all their online content, there's a lot of added value for existing netflix customers. I like that it remembers where you left off for any video you've started, even if you started watching on your PC or Xbox.

laniford I just wish ALL their movies were available to watch instantly
nmordo Tell me about it! Blame the movie studios for that...
fnoo Yeah. More do seem to be going up on a daily basis, though. What really irritates me is when I'm partially through watching something, and the rights give out so they pull it from the service. I just barely finished season one of Alfred Hitchcock Presents before all of that went down. Now the first season is back up, but season two is still in limbo.
IMDb Movies & TV App
Does what it's supposed to. A good alternative to loading the website.

Hipstamatic App
Although overused, this is a super fun app to use, and produces interesting, vintage-style images.

Chase Mobile (SM) App
It's okay. It does what I need it to do -- I can review transactions and my account balance. I guess I don't know what else I'd expect out of it. I'm excited about it the way I'm excited about banks in general -- they do what they need to do, but are aggressively un-sexy and boring. But yeah, necessary.

The thing is, Mint's website and app have a way better UI, and integrate all my accounts. From a consumer POV, it's way more convenient to assemble everything in one place.

sbb the deposit checks via photo is pretty great. I wish WF had that.
Yelp App
Great app. Definitely a go-to whether I'm looking for a new place to go in the city I live in, or in a new place. Just like the full blown website experience, the app offers everything you'd expect from Yelp. Wish there was an ipad version.

Facebook App
Great for iphone, nothing for ipad yet. That said, the FB app is lagging behind FB proper in terms of functionality. For instance, FB's new groups feature isn't supported by the app yet. That said, this app is pretty darn well executed and I use it all the time. Then again, this ain't news -- you all probably have it installed already.
sbb I am using Social on the iPad. Which is fine, although not breathtakingly better than Safari for looking at stuff on FB...
riddlefish I heard that Friendly was good for the ipad--have you checked it out yet?
Fruit Ninja App
Fun, but quickly gets tiring. This game is a bit of a one trick pony, but for $1 it's a cute distraction now and then.
