Blippy is a website where people obsessively review everything they buy.

Victor Costan

Pragmatic Programmers
Their books are usually concise and cover recent software development issues. Good return on investment... and I usually get reimbursed by my employer.
· $27.30 credit card purchase
Starbucks
Went there because I had two hours to kill and wanted WiFi. The owners forgot to mention they're closing in half an hour when I got my coffee.

Overpriced and definitely over-hyped. I wouldn't normally go there.
· $4.76 credit card purchase
McDonald's
Someone needed a hot chocolate badly.

fnoo Really? Who?
girlfriday Have you ever had "drinking chocolate"? Once you do you'll never go back to the powders again. Except in emergency situations. (This sounded like one.)
fnoo Oh, indeed. The only -- well, it's not so much a problem as a curiosity; an unusual quality. It's the oil. It always seems very oily to me. But yes, indeed. I used to something of a cocoa fiend.
TweetDeck for iPhone App
It's great, for a free Twitter client running on the iPad. It crashed a lot for me, so I stopped using it when Twitter added iPad support to their official client.

Too bad about the crashes... I like Tweetdeck's UI for opening URLs.
· app from iTunes
Google Earth App
I got it as a curiosity. I think it's kindof useless.
· app from iTunes
Pandora Radio App
I listen to Pandora while walking to / from work, and on my walks. I love it!
BoltBus
BoltBus is great, I take them whenever I can book a ticket. Power outlets make a huge difference in my trip! Having WiFi isn't bad, but my tethered phone tends to be more reliable.

Megabus also has power outlets, but the buses are always late, by 1-4 hours.

Fung Wah and Lucky Star are much more convenient (between the two of them, there are buses leaving every hour) but they don't have power outlets.

amyuhrich Megabus is always HOURS late? Geeeez. Which city are you catching it in? Maybe I should try this one instead.
fnoo I keep reading about how great the Bolts are. There's a new line of Greyhounds that they're trying to insist is roomier than the old, with sockets and all sorts of amenities. No so much. There are only sockets toward the front, and there's still barely any legroom. Bolt -- this sounds good.
gkruis I've heard rumors that the chinatown buses used to be real crazy. Like people would take live chickens on board, and things.
La Verde's Market Mit
Tasty pineapples, cheaper (for the quantity) than Star Market's pineapple packs.
· $3.69 credit card purchase
Crimson Corner
I have no idea what this is. My wallet's thief did this purchase. It seems Harvard-related... I wouldn't be surprised.
· $16.89 credit card purchase
pwnall I don't know who stole my wallet. The thief had access to the locker room in the MIT sports center, and was smart enough to not steal my phone (GPS reporting). The latter makes me doubt it was a Harvard student.
nickhowell If it were an MIT guy, he would have cloned the phone, magnetic swiped all your cards, and sold it all to a Russian kid in Ukraine, all right there in the locker room, and you would have been none the wiser. :D
fnoo Some guy once stole my mother's credit card information and used it to pay his heating bill.

I'm not sure how that turned out.
Subway
Blippy got confused. My credit card bill says this is actually the MBTA subway in Park Street. This is one of the purchases made by my wallet's thief.

Assholes aside, the MBTA is still the most price-efficient way of getting around Boston.
· $15 credit card purchase
fnoo And such a straightforward route map, to boot.
fnoo That's a shame about the wallet. What other strange items have shown up on your bill?
pwnall Strange items: Crimson Corner and Al State Street Cafe.
fnoo So no sex toys or samurai swords, then?
pwnall sshhht... those were mine.

Seriously though... I didn't see any on my profile. If you did, can you please point them out so I can report them as fraud?
fnoo I'll keep an eye out.
T-Mobile
Still the cheapest mobile phone provider in the US. I like my plan, I don't like the coverage as much.
· $56.78 credit card purchase
AnkiMobile App
The app is expensive as hell, but I figured it'd be nice to support the open-source developer. I was disappointed to see that the UI hasn't been ported to the iPad.
· $24.99 app from iTunes
Star Market
My regular breakfast.
· $6.30 credit card purchase
Star Market
My regular breakfast.
· $6.06 credit card purchase
7 Eleven
I go there when I'm hungry at night, and nothing else is open. It's not very healthy and pretty overpriced... but there are no good alternatives around Stata Center after midnight.
· $5.18 credit card purchase
Star Market
My regular breakfast.
· $6.11 credit card purchase
Forbes Cafe
Very conveniently located, right in Stata Center. Their stuff is so overpriced, though!
· $1.95 credit card purchase
Al's State Street Cafe
I didn't make this purchase. The dude who stole my wallet did. Whatever he bought, I hope he choked on it.
· $8.75 credit card purchase
michaelaking that sucks.... hope you get it all worked out soon.
pwnall Thanks! I blocked my cards and this was reported as fraud... so, inconvenience aside, I should be fine :)
Burger King
This is where the Lucky Star bus stops on the NYC <-> Boston route. That's the only reason I'd ever get something there. I don't usually do fast food. I think I was really hungry and thirsty that time.
· $8.88 credit card purchase
Blizzard
It's just the RTS game of the year, nothing special :)
· $59.99 credit card purchase
