Apple › At one point, Apple was being advised go OS and software only and ditch hardware. Hard to imagine now. What do you like more - Apple hardware or software?

Most applications I use are web based, so I really only care about Apple as a hardware company. If Apple's hardware wasn't so beautiful I would not continue to use their software.

I like Apple software. Easy to use and simple enough for the average Joe.

i love the software very easy

Hard to choose. Apple's software runs very well on their hardware. I am a fan of both. Their hardware designs are very innovative, so for your question I am going to answer that I like Apple hardware more, since it runs many good apps from non-Apple companies.

The perfect unison of the two is the purpose of existence of Apple, so its tough to say. First impressions are the most important, so I'd tend to say, hardware.

Hardware. Any advantages of Apple software are lost on me since I am very comfortable in a Windows environment. But for hardware, I'm either using it or admiring it. Most of their sales are from hardware, so I think a lot of people don't even care about the software.

Given your initial starting line, what I find amazing is how so much of Apple's revenue is from sources that didn't even exist a while ago (from when the advisement was made?). iPod/iPhone/music are huge sales streams now.

I would never buy a Macbook that ran Windows. Nor would I ever buy a Dell that ran OS X. It's the combination of the two that justifies me paying the premium.

I know everybody will jump at me for this, but I find OSX a little stale. The best thing that ever happened to my MacBook Pro or my iMac 27 is Windows 7. There are a few pieces of very remarkable software available only for OSX, which is the reason why I have two macs, but the operating system itself is maddening in its idiosyncrasies.

If you just mess around and browse the internet, it's all good, but if you do any serious work you'll soon find how the file management in OSX is really lacking, and frankly dangerous (no way to merge folders easily, for example, I researched it).

It's also ironic how the Creative Suite now runs much better on Windows than on Mac, by leaps and bounds. It's especially evident in Fireworks CS5 which runs like pure shit under OSX 10.6.4.

that's like asking what you like more, peanut butter or chocolate. they're both great, but go better together.

Aside from the lame analogies, I would have to say software as I've had hardware issues with almost every MBP I've owned (though the iPhone 4 is sexy as hell).
