Save Toshi! App
mini review: I got this little game for free on iTunes a few days ago. It's made by @Nitako, the same people that made the award-winning Rasta Monkey. Save Toshi! is a little physics-based 3D puzzle game where you have to help this furry character named Toshi reach a green disco platform. The gameplay mechanic is similar to certain aspects of Steve Spielberg's BOOM BLOX on Wii except it's on a touchscreen device. You have a 3D view of the stage, so you can move the camera around whichever way you want. You then have to tip over or knock down the blocks to get Toshi to land on the green disco platform. Once she safely lands on it, she does a cheerful dance which is quite amusing. The game has a sort stereotypical Asianic theme to it by the looks of the font that is used (very much like Fruit Ninja), the anime-looking character Toshi, and especially the music also sounds very Eastern. The graphics are very simple in a bright-colored 3D environment with a static photo of the mountains for the skybox background. There are over 20 levels in multiple packs and a scoring system that are just like in Angry Birds. You do get to unlock achievements, as in different costumes, to dress up Toshi. I'd recommend this if you're into Angry Birds, Boom Blox, or Fruit Ninja.
Skycat and the starchildren App
mini review: I got this little game for free on iTunes yesterday. It's developed by Frostware, an indie developer from Sweden. It's a simple 2D platformer game where you play as a cat (with a cape). The gameplay is simple: you basically run and jump across floating platforms in the sky before the time runs out while collecting stars and starchildren would add time to your clock. A short swipe with your right thumb gives your Skycat a little boost in the direction you swipe to. The stages change from day to night with designs ranging from ancient ruins, bones of a sky giant, and an alien spacestation. There are only 9 levels in story mode, but you can unlock time trials mode so you can test your speed. Overall a cute and short game you can play on your mobile.

impulsebuyer This sounds amusing... It's free too? I'm on it.
beverlynoelle Is that cat wearing a cape?! D'aaaaaaaw!
riddlefish Cuuute! I tried the cape thing on my cat, but he just wasn't having it. Plus, I guess I've heard it's not a good idea for cats--in a really morbid version of this game, he'd probably hang himself, lol. ;p
purplefijian AWH this seems so cute! now i want to download it!

The Dark Crystal
◆ The Dark Crystal is undeniably a classic from 1982, the same year as the original Tron movie and ET. I recommend this epic fantasy to anyone who enjoys Jim Henson's works like The Muppets and The Labyrinth, or if you're into The Neverending Story or The Legend of Zelda, this is not to be missed because there is a sequel coming in 2011 titled The Power of the Dark Crystal.

The Dark Crystal is one of Jim Henson's latest and best films prior to his death in 1990. In the early 80s there were a lot of "science fiction" movies. At the time, there weren't really much to offer in the "fantasy" genre. Sure, there were some fantasy video games but not films. There was Conan the Barbarian, but there wasn't really anything else until The Dark Crystal. Now over 25 years later, the movie releases on DVD and, for the first time, it has finally made its transfer over to Blu-ray for high definition, and everything looks fantastic! I like how on this Blu-ray release, there's this treasure/object hunting "game" thing while you watch the movie, and once you've collected all the crystal shards, you can view them in the gallery with details provided on the side. The Dark Crystal a definite must-own for me since it's a Jim Henson classic.

girlfriday Jim Henson. Love him. So much. What a fascinating artist.
amyuhrich This movie used to freak me out. So. Much. But I loved it. Creepy as hell and Brian Froud was the concept artist for this (as well as Labyrinth). Big fan :)
riddlefish Whoa, Jim Henson died??!! But how... OH, I just realized I confused him with Tim Burton, haha. But that's so sad! I might have to watch this movie in tribute. Or just pour a 40 on the curb. But, I mean, watching the movie might be cheaper. I'm not made of money, you know. ;p
riddlefish @heiditron That's crazy--MASH always predicted my death would be by shanking.

Devil Invasion Free App
Got this for free on iTunes last week. I'm not sure what the difference is between this version and the other one titled just Devil Invasion, but I think they're just the same game.

Daft Punk - Overture
It was an awesome deal on Amazon which includes the entire soundtrack and 1 bonus track exclusive to AmazonMP3. Daft Punk has done a great job on this soundtrack by combining Hans Zimmer influenced orchestra with Electronica and Electro House giving that heavy, epic, but unique sound fit for a futuristic/film noir movie like Tron Legacy. My most favorite track from this album is "Tron Legacy (End Credits)".

beverlynoelle This is going to be an amazing film, are you planning on seeing it? (Hint: The only acceptable answer is "yes")
riddlefish This movie looks epic. I was skeptical because of all the bs movies coming out based on board games and everything (did you know there's a Battleship movie coming out?) but this actually looks really cool. So what's the story about the soundtrack?
rothsothy @beverlynoelle Of course I'm going to see it! I'm a big Tron fan. \:D/
@riddlefish As for the soundtrack, I got it for a low price of $3.99 at Amazon the day it was released.
The Ball (preorder)
The game's pretty neat. It's basically Tripwire's version of Portal (by Valve) with a Legends of the Hidden Temple theme, LOL, just as how Killing Floor (another game by Tripwire) = Left 4 Dead (Valve). I also got a exclusive bonus character costume for Killing Floor because of the pre-order which I have yet to see. Yay me! \:D/

I got the Monkey Island Complete Pack on Steam for only 5$. Telltale Games has made some quality titles. This is an awesome remake of their very own classic series.
fnoo Does this just include the episodic games, or are the earlier Lucasfilm adventures tossed in for good measure?
rothsothy Yes, it comes with chapters 1-5. The sale is still going on, but I don't know for how long. You can check it out at steampowered.com
