I cannot stress enough what a disgrace this film is. Not only is it a blatant misrepresentation of truth, it is even a misrepresentation of the 'Paul is Dead' mythology.

I am a huge Beatles fan and have never believed a word of the 'Paul is Dead' conspiracy but I enjoy the mythology around it so I often watch stuff in relation to this topic.

My word my word...where do I even start with this dross. It presents to be a secret tape recorded by George Harrison whilst in hospital after his stabbing. The film maker claims these tapes were mailed to him from London in 2005.

They use 'George' from these tapes narrating the story of the Paul is Dead story and 'revealing' the truth. A truth he claims got John killed and him stabbed. Lets put to the side the fact that I sound more like George Harrison than the voice on the tape and focus on just a few of the historical inaccuracies in this.

They claim that Paul was killed in November of 1966 so they started hiding clues in Rubber Soul. Well Rubber Soul was released in December of 1965. Just forward to the end of the Beatles, they claim that Let it Be was a deal with MI5 to say goodbye to the fans after MI5 got sick of the hidden clues revealing that they were complicit in the Paul cover up and were threatening to bump off John and George after the clues in the Abby Road album.

Well Let it be was actually recorded before Abby Road, so it couldn't be a deal to end the Beatles.

Finally they claim that Heather Mills is actually Rita, the woman supposed to have caused the crash that killed Paul McCartney. She insisted on marrying fake Paul in return for continuing the keep the secret. She apparently lost her leg after MI5 ran her over when she threatened to reveal the secret.

Now Rita was supposed to be a young fan in 1966...around 18ish which has her born in 1948. Heather Mills was born in 1968.

These are just three of a gazillion things I could list. Do not waste your time on this rubbish. I hope the film makers get sued to oblivion!! *rant over*

jobsta Sadly after doing some googling I don't think it was supposed to be satire, but it is so ridiculous that it should be considered so.

jobsta That's the thing...if it is supposed to be satire it is horribly done satire, and if it isn't satire (which I suspect) then brain explosions begin to occur! It just doesn't compute!

jobsta Such anger from a review I wrote a year ago? I cop to the typo over Abbey Road, but, is it such a big deal? However, "Let it Be" was recorded BEFORE Abbey Road.

The Let It Be sessions were held from January - February 1969. Whereas the majority of the Abbey Road sessions were held May - August 1969.

You don't need to take my word for it, go and buy yourself a copy of "The Beatles Anthology" dvd set. If you do that you will hear it from The Beatles and George Martin themselves.
