Soap. Soap. And more soap. La Source and Aloe Vera. I miss the glycerin soaps; these are all the triple-milled variety.

A ton of sand. Well, not literally a "ton" as in 2,000lbs; more like 8 bags @ 50lbs each so 400lbs of sand. Add flagstone, lots of sand, and some manual labor and hopefully you get a flagstone patio/entrance.

steveh Don't that have people for this?
Otooles Garden Centers
Bought every last Elfin Thyme plant left in stock. All they had left were those peat pot plants which are bigger than what I'd wanted but they gave me a deal on them. I'll try dividing them before planting them between the flagstones.

Must have been something one of the kids watched; I've never heard of it.

Every last Elfin Thyme plant they had in stock. They gave me a really good deal on it because I've been in so often and because 4 of the Elfin Thyme I bought previously went belly up.

SemtexGirl Sometimes I'm tempted to stand outside of Home Depot with all those other dudes waiting to be asked if they can help plant some shrubbery or whatever. If I ever go back to L.A., I think I'll try it as a social experiment.

A color print of a pdf file -- my daughter and I are taking our sweet time in putting together her high school graduation announcements but now they're done and they're quite creative. Now she has to send them out.

fnoo Can you just e-mail files in, or do you have to bring them in on a thumbdrive?
suburbanwife Actually you can do it all online -- just upload a file, choose some options, put it on a card, and they call you when the job is ready to pick up.
suburbanwife I wanted to see a proof before I ordered a bunch of copies so I went in with the file on a thumbdrive. First, I had to convert to a .pdf because I'm on a Mac and they're definitely Word-centric at Kinkos. It cost $0.30 per minute to use their computer and the color printout was $1.06. I tried using the color copier to make add'l prints but the color on the photos degraded too much. So I came back home and ordered online.
The Home Depot
A big-ass landscape rake and a Dig micro-watering kit. I hated to plunk down $45 for a rake I'd use once but I had to fine-grade the front and side yards I'd just rototilled and the little rake I had wasn't going to do the job. The big rake proved itself to be well-suited to the task at hand and by the end of another day, the front- and side yards were smoothed and leveled and ready for sod.

fnoo Perhaps a friend or a neighbor could use a rake? Sharing of resources and all.
suburbanwife I thought perhaps I'd put it on Craigslist once I'm sure I'm done with it. So far my smaller rake is working better for smoothing the sand for my flagstone but I'll make sure I'm completely done with the whole project before selling it.

Cow & compost. And a product called Beats Peat -- some sort of peat concentrate that you reconstitute with water and then mix into the soil. All mixed into the soil while rototilling. Should give our Buffalo grass a fighting chance.

Hm, I think this was for the rental of a huge Baretto rototiller. The kids and I spent all Saturday rototilling the front and side yards prepping for our new Buffalo grass sod. We rototilled with that monster for 7 hours straight and pulled the most amazing pile of rock out of the soil. Added tons of amendments. And made the worst hardpan look almost like rich soil in the end.

SemtexGirl The Kinks are easily in my top 30 favorite bands. Good choice.
fnoo Right now, this post is right above a post about Kinkos.

Well, at least there's no accusing The Kinks of copying anyone.
Gin Blossoms - Follow You Down
