Level 6

Eric Marden

Building cool stuff for the web since before Google was born.
Buccaneer Blitz App
If you're into the 'Defenders of the Oasis' or similar games in this genre, this one brings some interesting twists to the table, including making use of the Accelerometer when going into FPS mode with the catapult. I can't play it for hours on end, but I do enjoy picking it up now and again to move my campaign forward.

Darts App
Fancy a game of darts? Once you get a handle on the controls, you'll have a great time playing cricket on this app.
· app from iTunes
lesayoh i dont know. i like live action darts myself. but i'll give a whirl
riddlefish Is cricket a kind of dart game??
WeatherStation Free App
Clear info graphics you can read from across the room. First App I open every morning.
· app from iTunes
beverlynoelle Do you have an iPad, or are the graphics that awesome on an iPod/iPhone?! :D
xentek This was on the iPad, yes.
riddlefish Cool--so is it better than weatherbug?
Heroes Blade App
This is my current addiction, and I've never played a 'card-based RPG' before in my life. But do NOT listen to the iTunes reviewers - the game is winnable and the bosses are beatable. I'm already up to Level 5 and still going strong. You will replay each level, which consists of 3 normal 'battles' and a boss 'battle', but each time you win these battles you get money to spend on upgrades. Keep upgrading and then you'll finally be prepared to face the boss and win.

dive_philospher when i read 'card-based RPG', i thought of yu-gi-oh. lol. am i totally off base here?
xentek its kind of like that, I guess. I found this videograme fun, but have never played that or Magic the Gathering or any of them IRL.
Mover Lite App
Works as advertised, but no one I know is using this app, which makes it pointless to own (since you need another device to move stuff to, i.e. that's all the app does). Go for BUMP instead, since that one seems to be more common, especially when trying to exchange something with new friends at conferences, etc.
Firefox Home App
Uninstalled this after I switched to Chrome.
RedPint App
Didn't care for this app. Still searching for the perfect beer "tracker"
Cut the Rope HD Lite App
Try this great little game before you buy it. You won't be disappointed.
Skype App
If you use Skype, you're probably already using this.
Stoneship  App
I wanted to like this game more, but even the port of Defenders of the Oasis was better than this original title from the makers of Myst.
SpellStacker App
Hated the interface, and the rules were confusing. This is no "Upwords"
Cut the Rope App
Everyone in the family loves this game. Great casual physics/logic game from Chillingo
· $1.99 app from iTunes
dive_philospher how do you play this?
xentek Try the lite version to get a feel for it. But, basically you keep cutting ropes until the peppermint goes into the monster's mouth (like the icon above), but the rope physics are really ingenius and could only be done on a touch screen.
Khoa It's a well designed game indeed
productjoy what exactly is the point of the game? are you supposed to just zap things with your finger!?
xentek Its not even that cool. I'm pretty sure this is a free app. D/L it if you want to bore yourself. :)
riddlefish Lol. From the picture it looks like you reach down from the heavens to give people the gift of crazy mountain man facial hair. That's what it is, right? ;)
xentek Something like that.
Robocalypse App
Funny little RTS game. I enjoyed playing through it a couple of times.
· $2.13 app from iTunes
CRYSTAL DEFENDERS App
Great Twist on the TD genre, but 'expensive' compared to other equally good Tower Defense games on the app store. Don't get me wrong, though, its still one of the best in the genre.
dive_philospher ohh i love tower defense games! how much did this run you?
xentek If I recall correctly, it was $7.99. Been thinking of getting the iPad HD version and playing through it again. This one has been on the iPhone app store for some time (and is the version I reviewed here)
xentek We'll happily buy a $5 coffee that only gives an hour (if that) of pleasure but somehow we seem to freak out when an app on iTunes costs more than a buck and has the potential of entertaining us for HOURS on end. Funny that.
Galactic Alliance App
Didn't stay long on the iPad, but I'm sure some tower defense fans will like that. They do have an interesting multi-player mode where everyone works one 'side' of the iPad screen to defend against the baddies.
calvetica App
OMG. This is the calendar app your iPhone deserves.
· $2.99 app from iTunes
Puzzle Quest HD App
Better on the iPad than on the iPhone, that's for sure. Be prepared to spend alot of time with this app, but it is addicting enough to keep you invested. If you like RPGs and you also like Match-3 games, this app puts the two in bed together in a really interesting way. Can get tedious once you get your hero leveled up to 40+
Netflix App
If you aren't streaming Netflix, you must be 80 years old.
· app from iTunes
awesome (1) · funny (1) · informative · omgwtf
dive_philospher blunt. i like it.
Smurfs' Village App
Its fucking farmville, but with smurfs. I feel like I was sold a bill of goods. For some reason I got the impression that this was more like a Smurfs Real Time Strategy game, but was sorely disappointed. Buy your own fucking smurfberries, Capcom.
